Today is just an ordinary day. I'm on vacation, but that doesn't change anything. Classes are over, we're free of homework and projects, but everything else remains exactly the same. Unlike some groups of people, I'm staying home because of the pandemic. Studies have said that young people aren't as likely to get infected, but I prefer not to take any risks. Besides, I don't have any friends to go out with. Most of them prefer to play video games, read, and do that kind of thing—typical of us, the oddballs of society.
This time it's my turn to help my mother with the housework. I don't mind; on the contrary, it helps clear my mind. My mother goes to work every day and always comes home exhausted. Even though it's just the two of us, her salary isn't enough to cover all our expenses. I always try to find ways to help her, but I can't do much. I really wish she had a better job and could spend more time with me, but I can't complain, at least not in front of her. If I do, I'm sure it will start an argument.
12:30 pm. I think it would be good to turn on the television while I finish my tasks.
Just as I turned it on, I was on the news channel, and the first thing I saw was news about a new wave of infections. This is a joke. The reporters mentioned that despite the precautions being taken, it can't be stopped and that the only cure is the new vaccine that's coming soon. At first, all their reporting was perfect, informative, when suddenly they brought up what we're all sick of, since there wasn't a news report or story that didn't mention it: "Young people are solely to blame for everything. If it weren't for them and their new ideologies, this would be much faster. If it weren't for them, our society wouldn't be so screwed up. If only they would keep quiet, if only they would focus more on what matters, maybe we would have found the cure a long time ago."
Of course, but let me remind you that the government ordered the killing of the young people who had the tests and analyses for the vaccine ready three months ago, and although they tried to cover it up, the university they belonged to did not remain silent.
Lately, all we hear are hateful comments directed at young people. I know, we're a different generation than what they're used to—being submissive—but seriously? Is it necessary to spout hateful rhetoric on national television so everyone will hate my generation? What are they trying to achieve by saying all this? Don't you think we want to reform our countries? Do you think it's foolish for young people to try to dismantle systems of oppression against different groups of people in society?
These kinds of comments have been going on for at least a month, and they always end with the phrase, "Exterminating them is our duty." What kind of lunatic does this kind of thing?
And although you don't see it in the news, we know that because of this, there are cases where adults have killed young people, parents have even killed their children, but society acts as if nothing is happening.
