So I resigned myself to the thought of death, but I didn't want to die after being humiliated by this man, so I continued to struggle. Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise that I was wearing high heels, so I took them off and struck the man. He rolled on the floor with a pained expression. The blow from the high heel must have broken at least one bone. I took advantage of the opportunity to run frantically. But the man quickly got up and started chasing me.
My legs were starting to give out, but I was running with all my might when I saw a silhouette in the distance. I screamed, as if begging for help. Perhaps my voice reached him, as the silhouette began to run towards me. The relief of being alone made my legs give out, and I was eventually caught by the man. The man, apparently unaware of the approaching silhouette, grabbed me by the hand. I resisted as his face drew ever closer, but I couldn't overcome the strength of a grown man. Then, footsteps drew near, and I heard the sound of metal clashing.
The man, who had been so focused on me, tying my hands, that he hadn't noticed anyone approaching, raised his head at the sound of metal. Seeing the police officer handcuffing him, he muttered a curse and tried to run away. But the officer immediately grabbed his hands, twisted them behind him, and handcuffed him. Tears clouded my vision, making it difficult to see the officer's face clearly. I collapsed on the floor, completely relaxed, and just cried.
“Are you okay? You’re not hurt, are you?”
“Yes… it’s okay.”
“I called another police officer, so he’ll help you out. I’ll take this guy away.”
“Thank you, thank you so much… I almost died.”
“Thank goodness, you seem to have gotten hurt a bit while resisting. The police will be here soon, so go to the hospital.”
“Go to the hospital and come back right away, because you need to get examined.”
“The police will take care of everything, don’t worry too much.”
"thank you."
As the policeman took the criminal away and my racing heart began to calm, I heard footsteps in the distance. My nerves were on edge, and I tensed up again, but the voice that followed soon eased my tension.
“This is the police, relax.”
But the voice was somehow familiar. It was a voice I'd heard many times. As the police officer got closer, I could see his face clearly. It was none other than Jungkook. Jungkook looked quite shocked, and I burst into tears the moment I saw him. Not wanting to show my haggard state, I hugged him. Having heard my story, Jungkook, instead of avoiding me, patted me and asked,
“Seyeon, why is Seyeon here…”
“I was really scared… why did you come now?”
“I almost died because of that guy.”
“I told you not to come out… I told you that Seyeon is pretty and easy to target.”
“Thank goodness… I’m happy that I can still see Seyun’s face.”
“Are you hurt anywhere? You must have been hurt.”
Up until then, I hadn't felt pain, not only because I was unconscious, but also because of the intense fear. Listening to Jeongguk's words, I felt pain. My wrists were bruised from the force of the restraints, and they were bleeding from the asphalt. My ankles were also in excruciating pain from running so fast in my high heels, and I had multiple cuts from the fall. My face was also injured because the perpetrator had even touched it while I was resisting.
“What is this, it’s so upsetting… Why are you hurt so much?”
“I just drank because I was having a hard time because of Jungkook… I didn’t know it would turn out like this.”
“…Because of me?”
I slipped. The culprit had sobered me up a bit, but the lingering alcohol left me with a lingering, unfiltered slur. I panicked and rambling, but Jeongguk didn't seem to believe me, so I had no choice but to tell him the truth.
“That’s… I was upset because it seemed like Jungkook was uncomfortable with me lately.”
