Bonus episode - My First Love
Since childhood, Yeoju and Subin, who were friends, were different from boys; Subin was quiet and gentle when playing,
while Yeoju was a troublemaking tomboy with a big-sister-in-charge kind of style. So different,
the two were completely unlike each other. Whenever friends came along picking on Subin, she would always show up and stand in for
him, fighting for him instead. Maybe it was from then on? Subin had started liking Yeoju around the age of 9
or so. Every time he looked at Yeoju, who was bolder and stronger than he was, his eyes would sparkle.
And that was how Yeoju became Subin's first love. Watching Yeoju rolling around and playing with friends on the playground, Yeoju's mother would click her tongue in dismay.
"Yeoju, who could she possibly take after to act like that? I thought she'd grow out of it when she got older."
"Yeoju's mom, that's just a phase. Once puberty hits, she'll calm down." - Subin's mom
"Still, I worry. Just look at how well-behaved Subin is. Where do you find a son like that?
I don't even know if Yeoju will get married when she grows up. She's such a tomboy,
who could even handle her? I feel bad, so how could I ever send her off to someone else's family?"
Unlike Yeoju's mother, who looked worried, Subin quietly sat there drinking his beverage
until his eyes sparkled and, in an excited voice, he told Yeoju's mother,
"Don't worry, ma'am! I'll marry Yeoju!"
"What? Subin, you?"
"Yes!"
"Our Subin really likes Yeoju a lot, huh."
"Yes! I like her as much as I like my own mom!"
"My, how do you say such lovely things? Then please take good care of our Yeoju."
"Oh my, look at him—his mouth's already hanging from ear to ear." - Subin's mom
At Subin's unexpected answer, the adults laughed it off as a joke.
But Subin had lived only looking at Yeoju all the way until he became an adult.
His pure love had continued from age 9 until now. After graduating from the same elementary and middle school,
Subin and Yeoju entered the same high school again, and Yeoju did a great job as Subin's protector.
Subin had only been looking at Yeoju, and had made it this far. He was quite popular, but he had no interest in anyone but Yeoju. There were even rumors all over school
that he was Yeoju-obsessed. Then one day, Yeoju was staring at someone like she'd lost her soul,
and that someone was Choi Yeonjun from their class. He was the very person who had made Yeoju cry and laugh,
so there was no way to look at him kindly. The three, now 19 years old,
Yeoju's feelings for Yeonjun kept growing.
/
While the two sat face-to-face at the living room table studying for exams, Yeoju brought up something
that wouldn't be strange to talk about at any time. Her eyes stayed fixed on the textbook, but
Subin's face was already darkening.
"Hey, Subin, do you think Yeonjun would accept my confession?"
"...."
"Hey, what are you thinking about?"
"How would I know!"
At his irritated tone, she turned pouty as she looked at Subin.
"You're weird lately, you know? Do you hate Yeonjun that much?"
"Yeah."
"What? Choi Subin, say that again."
"I said I hate Choi Yeonjun. You know full well that I like you, and yet
you talk about confessing in front of me?"
She felt flustered at Subin suddenly raising his voice.
"No, I know you like me, but we're family."
"...."
Every time Yeoju said they were family, his heart crumbled a little more.
He resented it, but could a person's heart really be moved that easily?
And Yeoju knew it too—Subin liked her as a woman..
Yeoju was trying hard to act calm so she wouldn't hurt Subin.
/
"Yeoju.. I like you."
"Really, Yeonjun?"
"Yeah, I really like you."
At Yeonjun's confession, which she had never expected, Yeoju felt like she had the whole world.
The two became lovers that day, and Subin became nothing more than the one who could only watch from the side.
Seeing happy Yeoju, he also felt happy in turn. Subin took one step back and became someone who silently watched over Yeoju from behind, like a tall guardian.
And he thought Yeonjun and Yeoju's happiness would last forever until the day they died -
END
Present day,
"Yeoju, how's the wedding prep going? When was the date again? In the fall?""Huh? Ah, yes."
At her section chief's exaggerated words, Yeoju answered awkwardly, and he handed her a discount voucher for a resort run by an acquaintance, telling her to come there with Yeonjun.
She sighed when she saw the business card and quietly put it in her bag. She had been avoiding Subin lately. It irritated and pained her that, because of selfish me, he was foolishly only
looking at me. The Yeoju with bright energy was growing darker by the day,
and Beomgyu was worried about her. "Senior, how about some drinks with me today?" he asked carefully,
and Yeoju smiled and readily agreed. After work,
the two sat side by side in a quiet cocktail bar, and Yeoju was drinking cocktails in silence.
"Senior.. are you okay?"
"How do I look to you, Beomgyu?"
"Hmm, you look like you're on shaky ground. Is something wrong?"
".."
At the words that she looked precarious, Yeoju's eyes reddened for no reason.
"Senior and I have been partners for two years, and we've been through all kinds of ugly sights together,
haven't we? Can't you tell me? I thought we were close."
To change the mood, Beomgyu stuck his lips out a little, and Yeoju's mouth corners rose slightly.
This is my private life. Cheers, drink up. She brushed it off by clinking Beomgyu's cocktail glass.
You're not even giving me a chance to get involved. After drinking too much again, Yeoju was already tipsy and lying face down.
Beomgyu sighed and drank the remaining cocktail. Just then, buzzzz—the phone Yeoju had left on the bar
shook from a vibration, and he assumed it was naturally Choi Yeonjun, but
when he looked at the caller, it was the name of the person called Subin from last time. Resting his chin on his hand, he wanted to see how long
he'd keep calling. Oh? This guy's pretty obsessive? Out of a strange sense of jealousy, he acted like he'd never answer forever, then lifted the phone and pressed the call button, and an urgent
voice from Subin rang out. Yeoju, you're not home and you won't answer your phone—where are you?
Hearing that worried, urgent voice, Beomgyu felt like teasing him.
"Yeoju-senpai is with me."
📞 ..Choi Beomgyu?
"Yes."
📞 Where are you? Put Yeoju on right now.
"Sorry, but I can't send Yeoju-senpai back today."
📞 What are you talking about? Put her on right now.
"I'm the one responsible for her today."
📞 ..Choi..
Before Subin could say anything else, he pressed the button and turned off the phone, then put it into Yeoju's bag.
After supporting the drunk Yeoju into a taxi, he headed to the officetel where he lived. What kind of woman was this, so fearless and so unguarded? He carefully laid her on the bed.
Yeoju had fallen into a deep sleep. He turned on his laptop and searched Choi Yeonjun in the internet search bar.
He'd thought he looked familiar from somewhere, and it turned out he was the only son of a pretty famous construction company. It's YJ Construction, so there wasn't anything especially newsworthy, but what on earth made Yeoju look like she was
suffering to death? As he kept scrolling, Beomgyu's eyes fixed on one place,
and when he read the article, his eyes shook slightly. YJ Construction's only son Choi and T Enterprise's
eldest granddaughter Kang Haewon secretly moving forward with marriage? That had been the anonymously posted title on T Enterprise's
website bulletin board a long time ago. Even though Yeonjun and Haewon were mosaicked out, Beomgyu could tell who he was.
He felt like he might be able to figure out the reason for the broken engagement. If this content was
true, then Yeonjun would not marry Yeoju. He got angry for no reason. Was wealth and honor enough to make him throw away a woman he'd dated for a long time? He approached the sleeping Yeoju's side.
Gently smoothing her tousled hair, he stared at her quietly, and tears gathered at the corners of Yeoju's eyes and fell. Maybe she was dreaming about something, because she was crying. He opened his eyes with a severe headache.
This isn't my house. And it wasn't Subin's house either. Swallowing dryly,
he rolled his eyes up and down to check where he was. A neatly arranged home, and
Yeoju, who found Beomgyu sleeping uncomfortably on the sofa, was so startled she clapped a hand over her mouth and swallowed her breath.
What kind of inconvenience is this!! I said I wasn't going to get drunk, did I not? I'm crazy, Han Yeoju!!!
Did I make some kind of mistake? Or maybe did I talk about the broken engagement? I don't know!! In self-disgust,
she clutched her throbbing head. Then, so as not to wake Beomgyu, she tiptoed out
through the front door. How am I supposed to face Choi Beomgyu!! She hurriedly took a taxi and headed home.
After unlocking the door and going inside, she saw Subin sitting on the living-room sofa in the dark.
As soon as Subin found me, he hugged me so tightly it felt hard to breathe.
"Uh, Subin, did you wait up all night for me?"
"Yeah, I waited. Your phone was off, I thought I was going crazy."
He buried his face in my shoulder and sniffled. I rubbed Subin's back with both arms.
I'm sorry, Subin. I won't do it again, okay? Stop crying. Only then did he wipe away his tears and look down at me.
You should be careful around that Choi Beomgyu guy. He didn't even tell you where you were, and what
happened? Nothing, right? Yeah, nothing happened. His face darkened for a moment, then Subin returned to a calm smile.

The T Hotel banquet hall. YJ Construction, T Enterprise, and the employees were enjoying the party.
Actually, the party had been held to introduce Haewon as the daughter-in-law. And
even with the reporters mixed in, the atmosphere was cheerful. Except for one person.
Yeonjun's face was full of shadows, and he didn't say a word. Yeonjun's mother was
smiling, but the gazes watching them were quite unsettling.
"You should smile, Yeonjun. You're the star of the show."
"...."
"Hello, Mother?"
"Oh my, Haewon, you've come. Welcome. How is your body feeling?
Your belly will be showing soon, so don't worry, I'll take care of everything.
Just think about the baby, hohoho."
Even at his mother's words, he remained silent and expressionless. And then there was Haewon in front of him.
Haewon, the T Enterprise chairman's eldest granddaughter, appeared in a neat two-piece outfit. At a glance,
she was tall, had deep double eyelids, and a refined, wealthy elegance. Haewon smiled and greeted Yeonjun's mother,
and his mother doted on Haewon. She nudged Yeonjun to stand next to her.
Then she went up to Yeonjun, exchanged eye greetings, and hooked her arm through his, pressing her body close.
As Yeonjun's parents, Yeonjun, and Haewon went around the banquet hall greeting people,
he had no idea how many greetings he'd made. His neck felt stiff, and Yeonjun had smiled so forcibly that even his cheek muscles
felt numb. The atmosphere gradually grew more festive, and Yeonjun's father, the president of YJ Construction,
went up on stage and introduced Yeonjun and Haewon to everyone.
"To the family members of YJ Construction and T Enterprise, thank you for attending this banquet despite your busy schedules. This sudden banquet was held because T Enterprise's eldest granddaughter,
Haewon, will soon become the daughter-in-law of our YJ Construction family. It seems we've made a good connection with T Enterprise so we can become family like this. So I invited you all to
introduce her to our executives. I hope you enjoy the rest of the time here. Thank you."
The people in the banquet hall focused their attention on Yeonjun and Haewon, and the reporters were busy taking pictures. He wanted to escape this tedious banquet hall, but reality wasn't so kind.
Taking advantage of a moment of carelessness, he left the banquet hall, which was suffocating him to death, and went up to the rooftop. Once he loosened his tie,
he finally felt like he could breathe. Standing by the railing and looking at the night view, he suddenly started thinking of Yeoju. In winter, she'd whine and ask to be hugged under the excuse that she was cold,
and whether the memory had come to mind, his phone gallery was still filled with memories of Yeoju he couldn't bring himself to delete. Looking at Yeoju's photos,
a smile formed on his lips without him realizing it. Just then, the rooftop door opened and Haewon came in.
"There you are. Mother is looking for you."
"...."
"..You still think about that woman?"
"...."
"You'd better forget her quickly. You should be glad you broke up with that woman.
If you hadn't, things would have gotten dangerous. You know what kind of person my mother is, right?
Don't do anything to get on her nerves. That way our married life will be easier."
Haewon approached Yeonjun, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him, but when she saw that he gave no reaction,
instead of getting angry, her desire to have this man grew even stronger.
She fixed his loosened tie, lifted the corners of her mouth, and said,
I know you don't like this.
But what can you do? I'm carrying your child.
Then she smiled calmly
and left the rooftop. Her words broke him once again, and it was the reason he couldn't go to Yeoju.

I was thinking of writing one side as a past story, but I thought it might get too boring,
so I squeezed in a little bit for episode 4. Even as I wrote it, it felt like, is this really right?
The content is so bad 😱 Thanks for reading 🫶
