🎶 IRONY (PROD. Primary) - Jeong Se-woon 🎶

As usual, Lee Yoon-seo was reading the most interesting novel of her 17 years of life (I'm not lying, I've probably read it five times). But today, I was so tired from the day that I fell asleep without realizing it. I felt like I slept for about eight hours. If I sleep too long, I spend the whole day in a daze like a zombie, so perhaps I instinctively felt the need to get up while still half asleep, and gently lifted my heavy eyelids while still lying down.

In this half-dreamy state, I was moving my eyes around, when suddenly, "Huh?"

Why is the wallpaper pink and not white?
Thinking that maybe I was half asleep and misreading things, I rubbed my eyes several times and slowly looked around the room with my blurred vision.

"...Where am I?"

Even though my eyes are clear, no matter how many times I look, this is not Lee Yoon-seo's room - in other words, this is not my room.
So where exactly is this?

As I was thinking about this, a scene from a novel flashed through my mind.

"Eh, maybe... isn't this the room of Yoo Ji-young, the minor character from that novel?"

The moment I thought that, I was excited and extremely happy at the fact that I had entered the world of my favorite novel, but...

First, he was angry that he was possessed by a "mob character,"
Furthermore, the fact that the mob member was a "villain" caused a second outburst of anger.

But wait a minute!!! If I'm going to be possessed, it has to be the cute, kind, and all-around great main character, Kim Yeo-joo!!
Why do I have to be the bad girl of all people?!

"Jiyong? What's wrong? Did something upset you?"

Ji-yeon (formerly Yoon-seo) had accidentally yelled out in anger, and her mother came into the room, worried about her. She looked so different from her real-life mother, and it hit home again.
"Oh, I've really been possessed..."

"Mommy! Mommy!!"

"Yes, yes, Jiyong. Do you need something from Mom?"

"Today is... what month and day?"

"Hmm, wait a minute... today is... March 7th."

"...Mom!!"

"That's a surprise! Mommy is here, so I can hear you without you having to speak so loudly."

"Oh, sorry. I suddenly got curious..."

"What does my daughter want to know so urgently?"

"Not a big deal, but... how old am I now?"

My mother's face visibly hardened at the question.
Well, anyone would be surprised if someone suddenly called out to them and asked, "How old are you?"

"Jiyong... what's wrong? Are you still half asleep? Or do you want to go to the hospital with Mommy?"

"No, no! It's not like that at all... I was just curious!"

"Well, the person coming to school tomorrow is Yoo Jiyoung, a second-year student."

"What, I'm not a first year, I'm already a second year?"

"Your first year is long over. Are you still sad about it? You've always said you don't want to get older."

"So, that means I'm... 18, not 17?"

"That's right. Jiyong, do you not trust your mother? Or is there something really wrong with you?"

"No, Mom, maybe it's because I didn't sleep much last night."

"Can I trust my child's words?"

"Of course! Mom, I'm hungry, let's eat!"

"I thought you'd say that, so dinner is already ready. Mom's already gone, so please come quickly."

After my mother left the room, I gently put my feet down on the floor, sat on the edge of the bed, and went back to thinking.
Why did I suddenly become possessed by this novel?
And not on April 7th, when the story begins, but now, a month before that?

In the original story, the heroine, Kim Yeo-joo, transfers to the school on May 3rd, about a month after the story begins.
However, with the emergence of a major irregularity in Lee Yoon-seo, is there a possibility that the date will actually change?
The questions just kept growing, one after the other swirling around in my head.

I wonder how long I was just staring blankly at the spot.
I heard my mother calling me from outside, and at that moment I immediately realized that I had been sitting there for quite a long time.
I quickly got up, opened the door and went outside.

"Sorry, Mom... I was just tidying up my desk."

"Wow, my child organized his desk on his own! He's so grown up now!"

"M-Mom! I'm not a child anymore!"

"But in your eyes, you're still a baby. Your legs must be tired, so sit down quickly. Your favorite japchae won't taste good if it gets cold, right?"

To be honest, I, the real Lee Yoon-seo, also loved japchae.
Now, it seems that Yoo Ji-young, a minor character in this novel, also loves japchae.
I was so happy to discover this commonality for the first time.
If Jiyeon liked food that I didn't like, I might have quickly realized she wasn't the real deal.
Even if the current me, Jiyeon, received the food, I would still be a little reluctant to put it in my mouth.

"Hey, Mom. Do I have any close friends?"

"Um... Jiyong, is there really something wrong?"

"No, that's not true!"

"Why did you forget about Namjoon? He's so kind to you..."

To be honest, I barely heard what Mom said after that.
That's because the moment I heard the name "Namjoon," a scene immediately popped into my head.

"Namjoon? What are you doing in front of my house?"

"What? I came here because I wanted to go to school with Jiyong."

"What, with me? Why?"

"Can't you just go with me? Let's go, we're going to be late."

I remembered the scene and finally remembered.
We were in the same class in the first grade and became good friends from then on.
We became close enough that it wasn't awkward even when we were alone, and it was normal for us to go to school together.

But, I was thinking the same thing when I was reading the original work...
Why does Jiyong only have one friend, Namjoon?
It was so mysterious that I wondered if he had even left the classroom.

Thinking about this, I remained lost in thought as I nibbled at my food, little by little.
Suddenly, I hear my mother's voice from afar and my consciousness comes back to me.

"Hmm? What did you say, Mom?"

"You should go to bed early tonight."

"Ha, ha..."

"So? Are you all ready for school yet?"

"Ready for school...?"

"Tomorrow is Monday, right? You forgot again, didn't you?"

"Oh, I see! It's Monday... haha..."

"Have you eaten properly?"

"Uh, yeah. I'll go get ready for school then!"

"Yes, yes, have a nice trip."

After saying goodbye to my mother and returning to my room, I finished getting ready for school and sat in my chair, thinking about my school life the next day, feeling half excited and half nervous, and letting my imagination run wild.
Suddenly, I looked in the mirror and saw myself reflected there, so different from the old "Lee Yun-seo," that I instinctively traced my eyes, nose, mouth, and ears with my fingers.

Unlike Yoonseo's jet black straight hair, Yoo Jiyoung's hair is light brown.
She has big, clear eyes, a high, pointed nose, and small, cute cherry-like lips.
Her appearance, which was only depicted in words in the novel, was a little - no, quite different from what I had imagined.
When I think of villainous characters, I imagine them as being sharp and strong, but in reality Jiyeon has an innocent and cute "puppy face," which was unexpected.

"Wow... I'm really curious about the faces of the male protagonists, isn't it?"

Their personalities and appearances were only described in words, so there were limits to what I could imagine.
But now, thanks to being possessed, I can actually see the faces of real handsome men...it's just amazing!

"I wish tomorrow would come already."

With that in mind, I got up, headed to the bathroom, quickly got ready for bed, said goodnight to my mom, and returned to my room.
Perhaps because it had only been a day since I arrived in the world of this novel, there was nothing in particular I could do on my own, and even though it was still early, around 7 o'clock, I had already become one with my bed.

• • •

"...Ugh, it's noisy."

Along with the shrill alarm sound, my heavy eyelids slowly lift.
I picked up my smartphone to turn off the annoying alarm and checked the time...
It seems like I slept quite a bit.

"...If I sleep too much, I get a headache."

Oh, that's right. I'm Yoo Ji-young now.

I dragged myself out of bed and quickly began getting ready.
After a while, I finished getting ready and headed to the kitchen to grab something quick to eat.
There was something familiar about the figure there.

"...Mom?"

"Oh, Jiyong. You're up early."

"Y-yes, but why are you awake already, Mom?"

"I need to feed my daughter breakfast."

"Breakfast...?"

"What are you talking about now? Come on, sit down and I'll serve you."

I was honestly surprised to see my mother cooking dinner like this in the morning.
In reality, my mother had to go to work early in the morning, so my breakfast usually consisted of just a glass of milk or a piece of bread.
As expected from the world of novels, Jiyeon seems to come from a pretty good family.

Eating my mom's warm home-cooked meal in the morning gave me a boost of energy.
After finishing my meal and brushing my teeth, I put my bag on my shoulder and put on my shoes, and called out to my mom cheerfully.

"I'm off!"

"Have a nice day, Jiyong."

The moment we exchanged a quick greeting and grabbed the doorknob...
I saw someone right in front of me and was so surprised that I screamed.

"Whoa!? I'm surprised!"

"...Are you that surprised? I'm sorry. I didn't mean to surprise you."

Standing there was...

It was Kim Namjoon.
