5. The aftereffects of excessive drinking

A refreshing morning~ what the hell. The sun was already high in the sky, and the birdsong, audible only in the early morning, had long since faded away. But I wasn't feeling the pleasant feeling of a late-sleeping morning, either. Because today was the weekend, and I drank a ton last night.

His stomach churned and then started churning wildly as if it were going to flip over. His stomach, pounding relentlessly as if imitating a heart, made him run to the bathroom. Seokjin had nothing left to throw up, so he just spit out his stomach acid for a while before finally being able to leave the bathroom. Even though he had cooked rainbow pancakes like that, his hangover still hadn't gone away, so he crawled to the kitchen and barely made it there. He rinsed his mouth and tried to recall yesterday's memories.

I looked in the mirror earlier and it looked like I drank a lot. How much did I drink? Seriously, how did I even get home? Seokjin, who had been wearing his work clothes for over 24 hours yesterday, had to figure out how he got home.

A homecoming instinct? I thought about the most ideal scenario, but unfortunately, Seokjin didn't have that ability. Seokjin, who didn't get drunk easily and always hailed taxis after company dinners, couldn't even guess how he got home.

-Did you get home safely?
-Please contact me when you wake up.

Seokjin froze as he checked his phone, remembering the times he'd sent his colleagues a taxi and checked their well-being. A number he hadn't even saved had sent him two texts, sounding incredibly familiar. And what was with that tone, as if he'd just dropped them off at home? Seokjin blinked, staring at the screen, as if he couldn't believe he'd just drank until he blacked out with someone whose number wasn't even saved.

“Anyway, since you told me to call, I should give it a try. Then I’ll know who it is.”

Seokjin pressed the call button, shouting "Go" rather than worrying. He fidgeted a bit before the other person picked up, but thankfully, they picked up quickly.

"hello?"

"hello..."

“Seokjin, did you get home safely yesterday?”

“Oh, it’s you, Lady Yeoju.”

“You haven’t saved my number yet? Well, I guess you were so drunk last night that you wouldn’t be able to think straight.”

“I’m sorry about yesterday… but did I make a mistake?”

“No. There isn’t.”

“Thank goodness, even the film broke...”

“I don’t know Seokjin’s drinking capacity, so I couldn’t stop him. You haven’t gotten over your hangover yet, have you? Do you want to join me?”

“Yes, I like it.”
As soon as the call ended, Seokjin slumped to the floor. He clutched his still-resonating earbuds and thought about what he'd just realized. The reason he hadn't gotten drunk at company dinners was simply because he didn't drink enough. He'd only just realized that his coworkers, who'd down a bottle while he'd had a drink, had been the reason he'd spent so much money on alcohol. He'd just realized that he was basically an alcoholic.

Seokjin sighed softly at his own stupidity and hurriedly picked up his clothes. He had to repay his debt to the woman, even if it meant buying her hangover soup. He might as well grab some Matdongsan while he was at it.
