My own idol

03: No matter what anyone says

“How could this be...”

“That could be true.”

“Are you kidding me?”

“That could be true.”

Anyone can see that I'm teasing you, written all over Seungyeon's face. Wooseok sincerely hoped that guy would get into college. As soon as Wooseok became a senior in high school, the group Han-gyeol was in made a comeback. Since Wooseok became a fan, Han-gyeol's first comeback was in March of Wooseok's senior year.

“If only we had come back a month earlier, we could have gone to a workshop or a fan signing.”

"Huh? You're going to a workshop and a fan signing? You're an online nerd, Kim Woo-seok?"

“That could be true!”

“Yeah, that could be true.”

“No matter how much I think about it, I think you’re teasing me.”

Seungyeon, who had never failed a high school exam since the first one, when everyone else was said to fail, up until last year, had never failed a grade, and her teasing irritated Wooseok. Seungyeon, having achieved so much up until then, didn't feel particularly burdened by her third year of high school. But for Wooseok, who had lived a somewhat ambiguous life, this was a crucial time. He shouldn't even think about going to workshops, fan signings, or anything else. Having teased him to his heart's content, Seungyeon suddenly began to comfort Wooseok.

"Just hold on for a year. After we go to college together, you can fangirl to your heart's content. Who knows? They might even come to your university's school festival next year."

"Yeah. It's a bit too much to hope for them to come to the school festival. Let's see if they get into college first."

“It might disband before then.”

“Mr. Lee.”

Just because he didn't go to workshops and fan signings, it wasn't like Wooseok completely ignored Hankyul. He watched their music videos, of course, and watched their music show performances little by little, determined to see them all someday. They say that groups that are truly unlucky can't perform well on music shows, but fortunately, Hankyul's group consistently performs well on them. They've even appeared as a group on a few idol-only variety shows.

-Today was a total blast. We hit a lot of ground here. We definitely have to come back here for our next activity.

Wooseok, who had been watching the music show stages steadily and occasionally hearing news from fans, suddenly saw that Hangyul had not been seen on stage, so he hurriedly went to the official fan cafe. It seemed like it was the first time he had been there since he was a senior in high school. When he looked at the bulletin board where announcements were posted, he saw an announcement regarding Hangyul's injury. It said that he had twisted his ankle during choreography practice and would be out of activities for a week. However, since that announcement was posted a month ago, Hangyul has not been seen on any of the stages that have been posted.

"A sprained ankle isn't a minor injury. It was strange to be out of action for only a week in the first place."

He wasn't just seen on stage, but he had been consistently sharing updates through fan signings and SNS. "I'm sorry I can't be on stage with you," "I went to the pre-recording today without dressing up and was embarrassed because the fans recognized me," "To be honest, I want to eat this and that," and so on. Wooseok saved Han-gyeol's photos that were uploaded one by one along with various TMI. Then, he realized that there were more things he had to take care of, and he let out a hollow laugh.

“Are you here, hyung?”

"The kids went straight to choreography practice. You should rest a bit and then come back to the company for vocal practice."

"yes..."

The manager, who briefly stopped by the dorm, gathered the members' practice clothes and left immediately. Han-gyeol, who was left alone in the dorm to monitor the situation, seemed to have a slightly hoarse voice, but he attributed it to his frustration over his injury. His injury was more serious than expected, and it was understandable that he would be upset if he couldn't perform on stage for longer than originally anticipated.

“...”

I hadn't realized that my ankle injury was causing more and more pain in other parts of my body.
