Embarrassing Fun
"Jimin, little Jimin!"
I called his nickname in a very loud voice. But he didn't seem to hear me and continued forward without even looking back.
"What, you're pretending not to hear me right now, right?"
There was no one next to me to talk to, but I ignored it and focused solely on him. I followed him with squirrel-like speed.
"Fairy, why are you pretending not to hear?"
"...."
"Oh, are you going to keep ignoring me?"
I strode towards him and looked down at him from above. He paused for a moment, then finally looked up at me. He was very small and lanky, only 166cm tall. But I was very tall and slender, only 175cm tall.
"Why do you keep ignoring me?"
"You keep calling me by my nickname."
At school, I was called a model, but he was called a 'fairy', a nickname he didn't want.
"Is it because you don't like your nickname?"
"No, I don't like it when people just call me 'little girl' or 'fairy'."
"Why? It's just cute and nice."
"I don't know, I'm not cute at all."
So you kept ignoring me because you hated that? Our fairy thought something like that. But even that was so cute. How could she be so adorable?
"So you're upset?"
"I'm not mad."
"While you were upset."
"I told you I wasn't mad!"
Wow. This is really crazy. It's hard to let go when our Jimin is upset.
"Don't be angry, shall we go to the store?"
"Why the store?"
"Why, I'm doing this because I want to buy you something delicious, Jimin."
"Are you really going to buy it for me?"
"Okay, I'll buy it for you."
He turned and started toward the store. How could even his back look so cute?
"Let's go together, Jimin, you're cute like a fairy."
"...."
"Shall I hold your hand?"
He remained silent. I walked over to him and held his hand, intertwining them with mine. Even his hands were small. They were so cute. I wanted to cry because they were so cute.
"Jimin has cute little hands?"
"It's not that small."
"Yeah, yeah, Jimin's hands aren't small."
"It's really not small."
It was so nerve-wracking to see him repeating what I said, as if he couldn't believe it.
"Let's go a little faster."
"Well, why?"
"just."
"Okay, then."
I walked with my long legs stretched out, but he had to run hard to keep up with my pace.
"Huh, huh."
"Jimin, should I walk a little slower?"
"No, it's okay."
I shortened my steps to show him some consideration as he was panting and out of breath.
"I told you it's okay."
"It's because I'm not okay."
"...thank you."
"Hey, thanks."
The store was closer than I thought, so I arrived quickly. As soon as I arrived, he looked like the happiest person in the world, selecting bread, milk, jelly, and chocolate and placing them on the counter.
"Will this do?"
"huh!"
"Okay. Ma'am, how much is this?"
The total was 8,000 won. It was either expensive or cheap. After seeing him pack all the food into bags, I walked to the bench outside.
"Let's sit here and eat."
At my words, he ran towards the bench where I was sitting. From a distance, I could see his short, hunched body better.
"You can eat it too."
"I'm fine, so eat a lot."
"You're telling the truth."
"Of course, of course."
After speaking, he tore open the bread wrapper and began to eat it hurriedly.
"I'll take it. You can eat it slowly, I won't steal it from you."
I opened the milk bottle next to me and handed it to him. He paused for a moment, took a few sips of the milk I gave him, and then resumed eating his bread.
"delicious?"
"Yeah, it's delicious."
Watching him eat the food, saying it was delicious, I felt a strange sense of pride. Is this what it feels like for a mother to feed her son?
"If there's anything you want to eat in the future, just tell me."
"really?"
"Okay, I'll buy you everything."
"Okay, but next time I'll buy it for you."
"okay."
I felt strangely drawn to him as he said cutely that he would buy things for me from now on.
Why is this happening?
