You're the youngest member of a small songwriting team. You've been commissioned by a major entertainment company to work on a guide for IU's new song. When you arrive at the recording studio, nervous, you find her already sitting quietly on the sofa inside, eyes closed, listening to something through earphones.
“Hello… I’m your guide today…”
“Yes, I heard. Please take care of it.”
IU smiled, raised her head, and our eyes met. The atmosphere was much softer and quieter than I'd expected.
You sat at the piano and played through the demos one by one. She held the lyrics in her hand, nodding and asking questions every now and then.
“Did you write these two verses yourself?”
“Yes… It was originally a different melody, but the emotional line changed a little.”
She smiled faintly.
“Oddly enough… I was surprised because it sounded like my own story. It’s similar to how I’ve been feeling lately.”
After the recording was over, she spoke carefully to you as you were trying to wrap things up.
“Excuse me… can we work together again next week?”
“Yes? Yes… of course.”
“Then… I’ll buy you coffee then. Oh, and just one sugar instead. I can’t drink anything too sweet.”
She quickly pulled out a piece of paper, wrote down her contact information, and handed it to a friend. The handwriting was small and firm.
"Let's write the next song together, and the next feelings too... slowly :) - Ji-eun"
You thought about it as you reread the note over and over again.
I never knew that the seat next to the recording studio would be this exciting.
