Secret Cohabitation with a Bad Angel

Secret Cohabitation with a Bad Angel (02)

These past few days, I'd learned a few things about Jeongguk. He was definitely far from the definition of an angel. Perhaps because he was an angel, he was far more resilient and powerful than most humans. At first, Seha couldn't believe his angel status, but the moment he saw him lift a bed with one hand, he finally believed it. This brute strength couldn't possibly be human! Well, his extraordinary stamina certainly proved useful. It was convenient to have him carry all the groceries, and he effortlessly lifted and moved heavy furniture, which helped us redecorate. But that was where his usefulness ended. He was definitely a man who relied on his fists rather than his brains, had zero patience, and had a raging temper. Once angry, he'd often lash out, and if he sullen, he'd spend the entire day whining. Yet, for some reason, Seha didn't dislike Jeongguk. Perhaps because he thought of himself as someone who would take care of him on this earth, there were times when he seemed trustworthy, growling and wary of those around him like a hunting dog. Seha even wondered if he had become too accustomed to him. Although not a single day passed quietly, Seha was somehow happy that his house and his surroundings, which had always been quiet, had become noisy and bustling because of his appearance.

“Seha.”
"huh?"
“Aren’t you going out today?”
“Why? Do you feel like taking a walk?”
"I'm so frustrated just staying at home. My wings have disappeared, so I can't fly. Just walking around is so suffocating, I'm going crazy. Just staying at home is driving me crazy."

Seha's lips formed a soft curve at Jeongguk's grunt. This wasn't some whining puppy asking to be taken for a walk. On the outside, he was grumbling, but in reality, Jeongguk's dark eyes, staring at her, were swollen with anticipation. This showed that he had no small curiosity about the human world.

“Okay. Let’s go out.”
“Yay!”

=====

The small park path she walked with Jungkook was quite quiet. The sunset sky was quite beautiful. Seha, brushing back her hair that had blown in the evening breeze and obscured her eyes, glanced to the side to examine Jungkook's profile. He was too dark to be called an angel. His hair was a deep black, his eyes were as black as obsidian, and he had a particularly intense aura about him. But now, Seha felt she could finally believe he was an angel. He was pure. Honest and unhesitating. He didn't use human tactics, resort to shallow tricks, try to deceive others, or seek selfish gain. Perhaps if he were human, he would be popular with many women. He was quite unusual for an angel, but he exuded the feeling that he would be stronger than any angel. Seha quite liked that about Jungkook. If we could live together like this, that wouldn't be so bad. Se-ha was startled and surprised because he had even thought that without realizing it.

“Are we really only going to live together for a month?”
"Well, first, I have to learn to love in a month, and you just have to love me. Isn't that enough?"
“...And after that?”
“What about that?”
"So what happens when I actually fall in love with you in a month? When you learn to love? Then what happens?"
“Well...then what...”

Jeongguk couldn't immediately answer Seha's question. But Seha smiled brightly. "As expected, he can't lie. He really is an angel, I guess." But so what? If I could just experience the love I'd always dreamed of, even if it was just for a month, maybe I wouldn't have any regrets.

“What kind of angel were you? I wonder.”
“...Well, you know when you see it.”
“...It must have been hard being kicked out of the house.”

At Seha's small mutter, Jeongguk's dark eyes glanced back. "Home." Have you ever thought of heaven as home? Angels exist on a mission given by God. Noble and sacred beings who spread love, sow love, and protect love—that's what angels are. However, despite being created by God, they couldn't fulfill God's mission, or even protect love on God's behalf. So they were cast out. Being cast out itself was a blow to their pride and infuriating. They were not just angels, they were archangels. They kicked me out like that. Had God finally lost his mind? I stomped my feet in rage. I'd never once thought it was hard. Was I actually having a hard time all this time? Was being cast out something that was difficult? Suddenly, a heavy weight sank down on my chest.

=====

Jeongguk's eyes swept over Seha again. What a curious person. Timid, fearful, and eccentric. He also harbors a fair amount of unnecessary affection. Yet, he also displays a resilient spirit and a strong will to survive. He's truly unique. Perhaps it's this strange strength that allows him to survive alone in this harsh human world, without a single family member. Jeongguk's gaze suddenly landed on the worn-out tips of Seha's sneakers. He didn't like the fact that the soles looked like they would fall off at any moment. Jeongguk's brow furrowed sharply.

“Hey, follow me.”
“Hey, where are you going!!”
“Be quiet and just follow me!”

Jeongguk's large hand grabbed Seha's without hesitation. He then began to walk away as if flying, and Seha, still holding onto Jeongguk's hand, practically ran, keeping up with his relentless pace. Why couldn't he feel his breathing rising, why did the cool evening breeze feel a little warm? Seha raised his head and looked at Jeongguk. Ah, I think I know. It's because your hand is so hot. It's because I just love this moment when your hand is holding mine. Seha held Jeongguk's hand tightly.
