Today, my mom said it wouldn't rain, so I didn't bring an umbrella, but when I came out to go home after work, the rain was so heavy that I couldn't even walk. On top of that, I was reading a book at the library, so I didn't see anyone going home at this hour. To make matters worse, my mom wasn't home either, so I had no choice but to walk to the subway station in the rain. At that time,
Someone called me from behind.

"hey."

“...?”

I looked back and saw the man standing there this morning, holding an umbrella. Perhaps because of what had happened that morning, he didn't seem like the kind of person who could solve my current problems.

“Don’t you have an umbrella?”

"..yes"

“Are you taking the subway?”

"yes"

“I’ll take you to the subway station.”

Suddenly, he started speaking to me formally. The person who had seemed so lucky that morning now seemed like a true angel sent from heaven. But I was so anxious about what had happened that morning that I couldn't immediately say yes.

“Okay, I can go by myself.”

“But why are you still here?”

“I went to the library.”

“Then you’re really not going to use it?”

"...no"

I felt like if I went any further I would end up getting drenched in all this rain, so I ended up sharing an umbrella with her.

“It’s raining quite heavily. Do you think I can walk alone once I get out of the subway station?”

“Yes, you can go there alone.”

"root“Why are you suddenly using formal language?”

“Just”

“....?”

“You’re all here. Take care and see you tomorrow.”

“Yeah, well..”

My life ended on that awkward first day of college.
