"Meat restaurant···?"

"Oh. He works in Imun-dong."

"Imun-dong? Isn't it really far from here?"

Yoongi's eyes widened at Jimin's words. Why would someone with so much money and everything else go all the way to Imun-dong to work part-time at a meat restaurant? It was strange, no matter who saw it. Yoongi pulled his chair closer to Jimin.

"He even lied about going to Seoul National University."

"······????"

"Now you know why I'm making such a fuss."
"Would I do this without any evidence?"

“Why did you end up at a meat restaurant in Imun-dong?”

"Mom was having a drink with her friends there. I went to pick her up."

"You're a filial son. If you study more, you'll be even more filial."

"shut up."

"yes."

"Anyway, the moment you enter a meat restaurant, it gets incredibly noisy inside."
"I saw a part-timer and a customer fighting. It was obvious that the customer was the one who was getting hurt."

"Wow... But that part-timer was Kim Yeo-ju?"

"Oh. But he said he was from Seoul National University or something... He was joking without even blinking."

photo
"You don't know why I lied?"

"I don't know about that. But that's not the point."

"Right... All the situations are so suspicious."

"Kim Yeo-ju... isn't everything a lie?"

"Isn't that too much?"

"I have good instincts."

'3-2'

"Hey! Bomgu!"

It was a common nickname I was given in my third year of middle school. Sub-heroine, supporting actor, extra. I was given countless nicknames with the opposite meaning of my name, but the most common was "Bomgu." The meaning was simple. I lived in "Bomgu Village," a village of shacks, quite a distance from my middle school. Our family was incredibly poor. I didn't wash often, so it was natural for me to stink. My kids avoided me, saying I smelled like food waste. They teased me for the dandruff on my head, asking if I'd sprinkled snow on it. I had to endure their verbal abuse in silence. It was the only thing I could do.

"Do you want to eat this?"

Even in this swampy life of mine, a brief spring came. At my middle school, there was a boy who was the center of attention for all the girls. He excelled in both academics and athletics. His striking face made him incredibly popular. I liked him, too. Of the 200 kids in my grade, he was the only one who smiled and cared about me.

"Hey, Ryeoun, do you like Kim Yeo-ju? LOL"

"what."

"If not, why do you keep being so nice to me? Aren't you two dating?"

While I was away briefly to clean up the storage room before PE, that kid and his friends came into the gym early, playing with basketballs and chatting. When my name was called, I felt nervous, and when I heard that kid's comment, I couldn't help but drop the gym equipment I was organizing in the storage room.

"That's not it."

"ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Then why are you taking care of him? Isn't he mistaken?"

photo
"He's pitiful. The other kids hate him too. I have to take care of the country too."

That kid was just thinking of me. He was just being nice to me because he felt bad for me being bullied. I don't know what he expected. The moment he heard that I was pitiful, I felt a pang of despair. I've heard harsher, more cruel words in my life, but it never felt this hard.

I resolved to start a new life. Wanting to get as far away from the middle school I'd graduated from as possible, I moved to a different area. I straightened my hair, saved up money, and bought a few cosmetics. No matter what, I washed and wore perfume every day, and never wore clothes with even the slightest stain. I wanted to erase all the painful memories of my past and be reborn as the wealthy and clean-cut Kim Yeo-ju. Truthfully,
I wanted to be loved too.

"Min Yoongi, do you have an umbrella?"

"Uh, I have two. I'll give you one."

"It's suddenly raining and it's so fucking hot... Are you going to Kim Taehyung's house today?"

"We fought yesterday, how can we go? I'm just going to study at school and then go."

"You fucking idiot... I'm going first!"

photo
"Don't talk nonsense to Taehyung."

"Oh, I'm not saying that... Don't worry."

The sudden downpour darkened the outside even though it wasn't even 5 p.m. Yoongi, anxious that Jimin might explode at any moment, repeatedly urged him not to say anything. Jimin furrowed his brow in annoyance and left the classroom.

"Huh? Kim Taehyung?"

As soon as Jimin left the classroom, Taehyung was seen hurriedly descending the stairs. For a brief moment, Jimin saw Taehyung's hands empty. Thinking this was a chance for reconciliation, he ran after him.

"Hey Kim Taehyung!"

"You don't have an umbrella?"

"however."

"Wear this and go. I have a useful cover-up."

Jimin stopped Taehyung, who was about to walk out in the rain, and handed him the umbrella he'd received from Yoongi earlier. Seeing Taehyung's puzzled expression, Jimin smiled, pointing to the Korean textbook he happened to have in his hand.

"No need."

"······."

"You go and write it."

"No. You use it."

Wow, this kid was seriously pissed, Jimin realized immediately. Convinced that talking more would only lead to a fight and never a resolution, Jimin tucked the umbrella he'd been given deeper into his hand and ran outside, where the rain was pouring down.

"Yeah, hey···!"

"Is he really crazy...?"

As Jimin disappeared from Taehyung's sight and Taehyung was flustered and kept opening and closing his umbrella, he saw a familiar face to the side.
