When the young girl Seo Su-jin opened her eyes in a dream, she saw a heavenly palace bathed in white and gold. Holding a golden cross, Su-jin slowly walked into the palace. She watched the gatekeepers, who opened the palace gates without even knowing her whereabouts, and then opened her mouth.
"Why are you opening the door?"
"You are a saint chosen by heaven."
It was a term for a saint, a holy person chosen by heaven. Sujin, who had done nothing, was stunned and lost in thought at the mention of a saint. The guards glanced at her briefly and then began to let her in. The vast lawn, which could easily accommodate over 600,000 people, the fountain, angels performing their duties here and there, and the sacred shrine at the end of the palace were the perfect setting to capture Sujin's attention.
As Soojin glanced around, Yeonjun, dressed in a white suit with gold trim, had just finished his divine trial and was facing her. He folded his magnificent wings and stepped forward to greet her politely. He smiled faintly at Soojin's presence and spoke.
"My name is Michael Choi Yeonjun. Your father is waiting inside, so you should hurry."
Sujin, lost in thought at Yeonjun's words, gave a short reply. Yeonjun followed her, leading her into the golden palace nestled within. Yeonjun led her to the palace gates, gazing at the angels guarding the gates before nodding. He deftly opened the door, and Sujin, bewildered, stumbled inside.
As she stepped inside, a dazzling halo and a white silhouette greeted Soojin, blinding her vision. He looked at her and smiled kindly, then glanced at the golden cross she held. Knowing it was Michael, the Father—God—seen Soojin, smiled, and spoke.
"You are a holy person chosen by Michael. Congratulations on becoming a saint."
Michael's choice, and in the blink of an eye, the dazzling halo faded, and a man with wings identical to Michael Yeonjun greeted her. He stared at Soojin for a long moment, then approached her and spoke softly.
"Nice to meet you, my name is Gabriel Kang Tae-hyun."
Kang Tae-hyun, Choi Yeon-jun. Only after facing Tae-hyun and Yeon-jun did Soo-jin realize immediately that they held very high positions. Tae-hyun took the golden cross from Soo-jin's hand and inserted it into the empty cross key. The moment the cross touched the drawer, he pulled out a golden necklace, a symbol of holiness, from a drawer that opened and handed it to Soo-jin.
Sujin, who was receiving the necklace Taehyun gave her, was soon bewildered by the necklace she was wearing for the first time. Taehyun, who looked at Sujin as if he understood her, took out a prayer and gently opened his mouth.
"God, the God of heaven, our Father, has chosen you. God knows that you are a holy person, chosen by Michael, the one who resembles God in greatness. May the light of God light your way in life. Amen."
As she read the prayers with a familiar tone and said "Amen," Sujin also prayed, chanting "Amen." Sujin, now a truly holy person at the official ceremony, realized belatedly that this was a dream. She gazed at the small cross around her neck, then gently opened her mouth to ask.
"...I am happy to have become a saint, but where I am now is a dream."
"This is not a dream. Your body and soul are connected to this place. So even if this is a dream, you are still a saint."
At Taehyun's words, Sujin was flustered by the sudden title and just fiddled with her necklace. When Sujin's expression worsened, Taehyun came closer to her, met her eyes, and smiled faintly.
