Chapter 1,
Fox Kwon Soon-young
Two years after graduating from high school, around the time I turned 21, I first encountered him on my way home in the dark of the night after a fun-filled evening with old elementary school friends I hadn't seen in a long time. He was alone, as if abandoned on that cold day, sleeping in a corner of an alleyway surrounded by empty boxes.

"Huh, why is there a fox in a place like this..?"

I was taken aback. How could I not be surprised to see a fox slumbering in a crowded alley? I felt so sorry for the fox, who had been sleeping in boxes as a blanket in the cold weather, that I woke it up to take it home. The fox, startled awake by my voice, retreated further into the corner, seemingly startled.
"Hey, Fox~ Your house is clean, spacious, and warm. Do you want to go with me?"
"This girl can do a lot for our fox."
I spoke as friendly as I could. As if it understood what I meant, it put its nose to my outstretched hand and sniffed. A moment later, the fox nuzzled itself against my body. I understood it to mean it wanted to follow, and since there were so many people, I picked it up first. The fox shivered in my embrace, perhaps because it was cold.

After arriving home, the fox, who was quite dirty, perhaps from being out for too long, was placed in the bathroom to be washed. I once had a dog, but it was so long ago that I'd forgotten how to properly wash an animal. As I pondered the memory, it occurred to me that the fox had been starving all this time.
"What does a fox eat... Fox, do you want to wash and eat, or eat and wash?"
The fox walked out of the bathroom, as if it had truly understood what I was saying. Surprised that it had understood me, I smiled and followed it out of the bathroom.
The fox's unwashed paws were dirty, and my floor was getting dirty. I quickly grabbed three or four towels from the bathroom, laid them out on the fluffy sofa, sat the fox down, and searched on my phone for information about what foxes eat.
"Huh..? A fox that eats books?? Do you eat books by any chance..?"
" ... "
"Haha... This girl was trying to make people laugh by talking nonsense... Why are you looking at me like that..."
I glanced at the fox, who, as expected, remained silent in response to my question, and it was looking at me with a strange look in its eyes.
After that, I quickly looked for fox food, worried the fox might be hungry. A quick search on the green screen revealed that foxes are omnivores and will eat anything. Since there was no meat at home, I gave the fox an apple.
When the fox didn't eat the apple even though I put it in front of it, I thought it must not be eating apples and brought the apple back to me, but something that looked like a human hand grabbed my wrist that was holding the apple.

"Uh... who are you..?"
This was the first meeting between me, a normal human, not half-human, half-beast, and Kwon Soon-young, a half-human, half-fox.
