Cinderella lost her parents when she was little, and her stepmother and older sisters gave her little knocks on the head.

You’ve probably heard a song like that at least once. I hate this song more than anything in the world.

She’s only pitiable in fairy tales and songs. In reality, Cinderella is the biggest idiot. What’s the point of being nice?

Who’s going to appreciate that? In this day and age, if you live nicely, you’re a loser.. The prince isn’t drawn to nice women

He says they’re boring. If you want to survive a rough world all on your own, you have to be strong

But what do I do? I couldn’t become strong. No, I can’t

Just sacrificing myselfdoesn’t seem so bad

Five years after my mom passed away, Dad brought home a new mom and her twin older daughter

(Same age as the heroine, but older because her birthday’s earlier) As a child, I was so happy to have an older sister

The few days when Dad was home, they were nice to me. I thought this happiness would last forever

But that was just my mistake. The day Dad left for an overseas business trip, their true colors

started to show. They bullied me, used my things carelessly, and even secretly

stole them. And then my stepmother started bringing expensive things into the house one by one

They invaded my life like it was nothing. I tried telling Dad too, but it only worked for a moment

It was useless. What came back was threats or bullying from my stepmother and the two older sisters

When Dad was home, they treated me like a maid

Maybe that’s why I even felt like I had become Cinderella

"Hey, Yoon Yeo-ju, I’m borrowing this bag and these clothes, okay?"

"Yoon Yeo-ju, your lip gloss is cute. I’m gonna use it for a bit"

"Hey, do your sisters’ using your stuff even wear it out?
They said they’d use it and give it back soon. What’s the point of having a pretty face if your personality is rotten?"

I endured all kinds of mistreatment. It was for Dad. Because Dad was happy

The two sisters, with their mean faces, coveted everything from my head to my toes

Like they were joking, we entered the same high school and the same class, and they introduced me as the younger sibling

their new dad had brought along. I was speechless. I’m the owner of that house..

They acted as if they were the original owners and were slowly taking away everything around me

Then Dad died in a sudden traffic accident, and overnight I became an orphan

I denied it. This has to be a dream. But cruelly, it was reality

I had lost my one and only dad, but the mother and daughter pair pretended to cry in front of people

and smiled wickedly behind their backs, as if they had been waiting for it. After the funeral

they used everything in the house as if it were theirs without permission, and they started spending

the inheritance that had been left to them recklessly. Their eyes were really all gone

I was terrified of them. And they bullied me by any means necessary

My face grew darker, my body became more and more battered, and my mind

was worn down. The looks that pitied me, the eyes that sympathized with me, disgusted me

And I was sent to the storage room. In this house, I was completely erased

"Hey, is that her? The twin sisters’ younger sister, Yoon Yeo-ju"

"Yeah, I heard the rumor. Shamelessly, she acts like the homeowner even though she isn’t
They say the twins keep her around because they’re so kind. If not, they would’ve kicked her out already"
"If her dad’s dead, she’s not family anymore. She should leave the house"

"They say you shouldn’t take in a black-haired beast in the first place"

Listening to the kids believe those rumors, I was so dumbfounded. It wasn’t true

They were spreading it however they wanted, and my whole body trembled. Before I knew it, I shouted loudly

"What are you talking about? I was the original homeowner!

The twins were the ones who remarried my dad and brought that stepmother in!!"
"Oh my, look at her, Yoon Yeo-ju. I really don’t know what you’re talking about

Did you really want Na-kyung’s and Da-kyung’s lives that badly?"
I was so stunned I couldn’t even speak. The tears I was shedding now felt like a waste

"What did you do right to be crying? Ridiculous. Did I say something wrong?"

"Ji-min, cut it out already. What are you doing in front of all the kids?"

The kid who had been talking back to me stopped the moment Da-kyung arrived. I looked at them with contempt

and Da-kyung and Na-kyung, as if they had planned it, hugged me and pretended to worry about me

Their acting began

"Your dad passed away, so of course you must be so sad"

"Are you okay, Yeo-ju? Don’t cry"

"I’m sorry, I was too short-sighted, Na-kyung"

Afterward, leaving the one who seemed frightened and ran off behind, they patted me and told me not to cry

Seeing that, the kids watching one by one started to waver

It was like I was being controlled by them. Once their

attention on me disappeared, Da-kyung whispered sharply

"Stop whining. Nothing changes just because you cry"

"Who do you think everyone’s going to side with?"

"...."

It was terrifyingly scary. For me, home and school were no longer safe places

All I had left was my boyfriend, Beom-gyu. The person who would stay on my side for life

But he had changed completely. He had been saying he loved me warmly just until yesterday

but he betrayed me. His once-gentle eyes were cold

and he started laughing at me with them

"Hey, Yoon Yeo-ju, you know why I dated you?"

"...."

"It was because of your background. But now you’re practically an orphan, aren’t you?"

"..Please, say it isn’t true, Beom-gyu"

"Oh my, look at you, Beom-gyu. I didn’t know you could say something like that too

Poor Yeo-ju, what is she supposed to do if even her boyfriend betrayed her?"
"Beom-gyu, why are you doing this? If you do this too, how am I supposed to live, huh?"

"Let go. Where are you touching with those dirty hands?!"

Beom-gyu roughly shook off my hand. At his words, I collapsed

Laughter filled the place, and biting my lip, I cried from the betrayal

I realized that I had nothing left anymore. I was only a laughingstock

No one worried about me. I even

resented my mom and dad for leaving me behind first. Thinking back on the days I was happy with Beom-gyu, I got lost in memory

Looking at the photos on my phone, seeing his smile, tears blurred my vision

No, that can’t be. Beom-gyu wouldn’t leave me. It felt like a dream. Day by day, I kept deteriorating

One day, my teacher looked at me with a worried face and asked me

"Yeo-ju, are you okay?"

"..Yes, I’m fine"

I forced myself to act cheerful and said it was nothing. Whenever I faced Beom-gyu

he looked at me with cold eyes and turned away, and I didn’t mind everyone ignoring me

and laughing at me, but Beom-gyu, you made things even harder for me

"Beom-gyu, don’t go, please!"

"I hate you. Don’t act like you know me. You’re disgusting"

"...."

Bang—like a bullet piercing my heart, he kills me once more

Cinderella got to go to the ball she had longed to attend thanks to the fairy godmother, and

she spent happy times dancing with the handsome prince she fell for at first sight

In the end, the prince put the glass slipper on her, married Cinderella, and they lived happily

ever after. But reality was more cruel than I had imagined

There was no prince to put the glass slipper on me, and no family to protect me

Abandoning everything, I quietly closed my eyes. You can guess my ending without me saying it

In the end, I couldn’t become a Cinderella of the 21st century

When the TV ad screen disappeared in the dark living room, the news began

"Breaking news: this afternoon at a high school in Seoul, an 18-year-old Miss Yoon

took her own life. According to the school..."
The TV screen turns off

— END

I got an urge about a week ago and wrote

this based on Cinderella, but looking at it now, I just rambled on without any structure;;
It’s a shame to throw away, so I’m uploading it for readers to see
It’s a little awkward to call the male lead Beom-gyu;;

Now that I’ve written it, the story is all over the place😅
I was thinking of turning it into a cruel fairy tale
but I don’t think my brain can handle that
I can imagine it, but I can’t put it into writing, and my brain feels pathetic😥

Ideas keep popping up, but if I don’t write them down right then, I forget them again.
