After deciding on Teruel as our travel destination
I spent my time excitedly making plans.
A few days before the trip,
one day, a call came in on President Kim’s number.
"Hello? Taehyung!
What’s going on?"
"Uh. You two aren’t fighting and are getting along well, right?"
"Well... there are days we fight,
and we make up...
that’s how it is."
"Are you two planning to wait until the full year is up before coming in?"
"Well...
I haven’t thought that far ahead yet..."
"Can I... talk to Hunji for a moment?
I have something to discuss for work..."
'Why are you calling me and asking me to pass the phone on?
To someone who’s resting...
What kind of work thing are you trying to talk about...? '
I handed my phone to Hunji
and went outside so he could talk comfortably.
A little while later, he came out too.
"May I ask what you talked about with President Kim?"
"Ah... well...
the president brought up a movie."
"A movie?
You mean the movie Hunji is going to shoot?"
"Yes... he said it’d be a shame to miss out on it.
We decided to get the script first."
"Ah... but..."
"But what?"
"Nothing."
I wanted to ask about that movie, but
I decided to wait until Hunji told me about it.
I brought up the trip to him.
"The transportation to Teruel is a bit inconvenient.
It is a long distance, but
how about renting a car and taking turns driving?"
"Wow~ that’s so romantic.
It’s a road trip!
About how long does it take?"
"I think... about 7 hours.
If we leave early in the morning,
wouldn’t we arrive in Teruel around the afternoon?"
"I’m fine, but won’t Junga be tired?"
"I... honestly, I’m really looking forward to it.
The Teruel photos you showed me were so amazing too...
and also..."
Hunji looked at me as if he found that surprising.
"It’s our first trip together.
And we can talk a lot while driving..."
"Who was it who said they needed some alone time
because we were stuck together all the time?"
"Travel is different!
Besides that camping trip in Korea,
we’ve never traveled together before."
I couldn’t hide how excited I was.
A smile spread across Hunji’s face as he watched me.
"Then let’s rent a car and go.
Instead, I’ll do more of the driving.
You’ll get tired, Junga..."
Our trip preparations moved quickly.
We rented a car, booked accommodation,
and before we knew it, the day before departure had arrived.
In preparation for the long drive,
we stopped by the supermarket and bought snacks too.
Everything seemed perfect.
We woke up early, got ready to leave,
and finally, for Teruel,
our first trip began.
All the way there, neither of us could say who started first,
but we naturally kept the conversation going.
From family trips when we were little,
to our first backpacking trip,
and even the countries we want to visit someday...
As we listened to each other’s stories,
we were able to drive without getting bored.
About 3 hours after leaving Frigiliana,
we arrived at a rest stop.
"Junga, want some coffee?"
"Oh! Sure. Let’s go together.
It’s our first time at a rest stop
overseas, so let’s take some photos too."
"No, what’s there to photograph at a rest stop?"
He laughed in disbelief.
"For our first trip in Spain,
I even brought a Polaroid camera.
A Polaroid is a one-of-a-kind photo in this world,
so you know it’s special, right?"
And so, a little old-fashionedly,
we took photos in front of a rest stop in Spain.
After a short break at the rest stop,
we drove for about 4 more hours
and finally arrived in Teruel.
The feeling of the whole city
was completely different from
Frigiliana’s rural scenery.

Even if a knight riding a horse passed by,
it wouldn’t seem strange—the city retained
its medieval look intact.
We headed first to the San Pedro Church,
where Hunji had said we’d find
Teruel’s lovers.
The statues of Diego and Isabel from the legend
reach out toward each other,
but are forever unable to touch,
which made their story feel even more heartbreaking.

'They loved each other so much...
and even after death, they still couldn’t reach one another.'
I silently looked at their statues.
Hunji came up beside me and said,
"Huh? I think this place rings a bell..."
"Wasn’t this your first time here?"
"I think the place where I whispered my love to Isabel
was somewhere around here..."
"Ah...
you remember whispering your love to Isabel,
but not getting scolded by Isabel’s father?"
"I think I was scolded...
or maybe I wasn’t..."
"You must have been really popular even in your past life?"
We held hands tightly
and stood there for a long time,
looking at the statues of the two lovers.
"Filming is starting sooner than I expected."
