We decided not to cross the line (Season 2)

Episode 56. A Forced Farewell

It was the weekend.

It was the day she was supposed to meet Hunji’s older sister.

Ever since I ran into Representative Kim at the gallery,

this would be my first time meeting her.

It was hard to predict what sort of conversation would come out of it.

But I didn’t

think it would be a pleasant atmosphere.

I arrived at the place we’d agreed on 10 minutes early.

My heart had already started pounding fast.

About 5 minutes later,

I saw her come into the café.

I stood up from my seat.

But,

her face looked even colder than I’d expected.

"Hello."

I greeted her first.

"Please sit down."

Instead of greeting me, she said briefly

and sat down.

"What would you like to drink?"

I asked carefully.

"I’m the one who asked to meet,

so I’ll get it."

"No.

Please go ahead."

"Then I’ll have chamomile tea."

"Yes. Just a moment."

I took my coffee and her tea

and returned to my seat.

She looked down at her cup,

then looked at me.

"This week, you met at Hunji hyung’s

house?"

"Yes."

"That’s how I heard about it.

Hunji didn’t say he was meeting with Jeong-a again,

so I didn’t know."

"Yes. We only started seeing each other again

not long ago."

"After breaking up with Representative Kim,

not long after

you’re seeing Hunji again?"

'Ah... so she is bringing up Representative Kim after all.'

The conversation I had been dreading

finally came out into the open.

"Yes."

"I really don’t understand.

I didn’t understand you meeting Hunji and then meeting Representative Kim either...

how can you go back to Hunji again..."

Her voice trailed off.

"It was hard for me to forget Hunji."

"And yet you met Representative Kim."

"It’s a bit of a long story..."

I steadied my breathing for a moment and went on.

"At the time, Hunji was feeling

for another friend.

So in a fit of anger, in a way,

I did start seeing Representative Kim

for a while...."

She took a sip of tea,

then looked at me in silence.

"If Hunji and Representative Kim didn’t know each other,

this wouldn’t even be a problem.

But they were people who used to be so close...

going back and forth like this, what are you even doing..."

Honestly, I didn’t understand why I had to be criticized about this by

his family instead of the person involved.

"Representative Kim didn’t really make an issue of it either...

and Hunji isn’t

with Representative Kim’s agency now either."

"So you mean there’s no problem at all?"

"I don’t think it’s that big a problem."

"But... our family

and I are a little different.

I’m not really happy about it."

Was I supposed to apologize to her?

I had no idea what I was supposed to say.

"So. In the end, what I want to say is...

I’d like you to break up with Hunji on your own.

""

I thought I was hearing things.

"Actually...

when I saw you with Representative Kim

and called to meet you."

She paused for a moment.

"Back then, I was going to ask what you thought

about meeting our Hunji again.

At the time, we were also seeing a kid

we didn’t like

and Hunji was having a hard time keeping himself together..."

"Yes... I’m sorry about that back then.

I was angry at Hunji too,

and since I was seeing Representative Kim,

I thought there was no reason to meet you, sister-in-law."

"People’s hearts really are fickle, aren’t they?

Back then I wanted to keep you away from that girl

and get Jeong-a together with Hunji...

But now that you’ve broken up with Representative Kim and are seeing Hunji again,

honestly, it doesn’t feel great..."

I swallowed hard.

I wanted to get out of this awkward, embarrassing situation

as quickly as possible.

"Anyway, what I want to say is...

don’t say anything to Hunji,

and I hope you’ll wrap things up well on your own, Jeong-a."

I couldn’t say I would,

and I couldn’t say I wouldn’t.

She stood up from her seat

and added,

"I’ll take it as you understand,

so I’ll head out first."

"Um..."

I also stood up.

"I can’t break up with Hunji...

I’m sorry."

I bowed my head to her.

"Then you’re just going to ignore what we said

and keep seeing him?"

"It’s not that I’m going to ignore it.

I really like him.

I like Hunji, I mean..."

"You just have to get your feelings under control.

Nothing lasts forever, you know?

Anyway, I’ve said everything I wanted to say,

so I’m going."

She left the café just like that.

I collapsed back into my seat, drained.

'What am I supposed to do now...?'

**What should Jeong-a do in this situation?

Please leave your opinion in the comments.

1. Ignore her words and tell Hunji.

2. Follow her words and keep some distance from Hunji.

3. Have a three-way meeting with the sister, Hunji, and Jeong-a.**"]}]} <> }]}]}]}]}]}]}]}]}]}]】]】]}
