It had been a while since I’d spent
a weekend with Hunji.
Instead of going out, we decided to spend
the time leisurely at home.
Of course, going out with Hunji on a weekend afternoon was
no easy thing.
But he was enjoying staying home
as if he were too lazy to go out.
And when I was barely managing to stop him
from insisting he’d be the chef,
I started to wonder if this was all an act.
After making kimchi fried rice for a late lunch
we were choosing a movie to watch on Netflix.
Then Hunji suddenly brought something up.
"By the way, ever since Junga met your older sister,
she hasn’t contacted your sister-in-law."
"Really? Then that’s a relief."
"What did you do?"
"I’ll tell you later.
But with your sister,
you know we’re currently broken up, right?
Don’t slip up and say something you shouldn’t. Okay?"
"Why do you have so many secrets lately?"
"Me? What secrets?"
"What about the whole thing with your sister now...
You said you’d talk about Miguel’s thing yesterday too."
"There’s a timing for everything.
It just isn’t the time right now."
"Junga, turns out you’re a strategist."
"But...
can’t I meet your older sister?"
"After sending that matchmaking guy off like that...
do you really think she’ll want to meet you?"
"Just set it up for now."
Hunji said with a confident look.
"I’m an expert at winning over older sisters.
You know?"
I looked at Hunji
and smiled.
"Aren’t I the first older sister?"
"Are you really... the first?"
"What?"
The smile vanished from my lips,
and I widened my eyes.
"Actually... people say I’m very jealous, but
Junga is seriously jealous too.
Even over a joke like this, getting so serious..."
"Was that really a joke?"
"Of course. I specialized in younger girls."
"Wow... younger or older, just how many women have you made cry
all this time?
I can’t even imagine."
Hunji shook his head at me
and settled me onto the sofa before starting the movie.
On that languid Saturday afternoon,
watching a soft romance movie,
I leaned against Hunji’s shoulder
and fell asleep again.
When I opened my eyes,
I had the sudden feeling that this would
become a new thing to tease me about,
but it turned out Hunji had fallen asleep too.
I let out a relieved sigh and sat up slightly.
So he could sleep soundly,
I moved to the dining table and started work on my translation.
Sunlight filtered through the chiffon curtains,
and in the quiet late Saturday afternoon,
only the sound of my keyboard typing could be heard.
It felt too still, so
the moment I put on some quiet music,
Hunji stirred and woke up.
"Park Hunji~ you fell asleep while watching a movie again~"
"Ha!! I only fell asleep because I was relieved
seeing Junga fall asleep."
"Ah... really? What a shame...
That could’ve been something to tease you with..."
Stretching, he said,
"But it’s weird.
I sleep like a baby when I stay at Junga’s place."
"Shouldn’t I be too turned on to sleep
at my girlfriend’s place?
Is it right to be sleeping so well?"
"Turned on? Why would you be turned on?"
Hunji, seeing his chance,
pounced on me at once to tease me.
"No... I mean because it’s the place of an opposite-sex friend."
I’d carelessly said 'turned on,' and then
had a hard time escaping his teasing.
Like Tom chasing Jerry at every opportunity,
Hunji teased me
and I ran around like Jerry.
That night, Miguel didn’t come home until after midnight.
Even the next morning, before I’d woken up,
he had already left the house.
Hunji also had an early shoot,
so he left at dawn, saying he had to go to the salon.
I spent the entire day alone,
reading books and listening to music
and enjoying a relaxed Sunday.
And then, by evening, Miguel came home.
As soon as he came in, he changed clothes and came out
to sit at the table.
"Miguel, are you hungry? Did you eat dinner?"
"I ate before coming in.
Sophie, could you sit here for a moment?"
I felt like Miguel had made up his mind
much faster than I expected.
"Miguel, should I get you something to drink?"
"Yes... anything is fine, please make it hot tea."
I made two cups of jasmine tea
and sat at the table.
After taking a sip of tea, Miguel
slowly began to tell his story.
Soon he seemed overwhelmed by emotion
and started to cry.
It felt as if the worries and pain Miguel had been carrying
were being passed on to me 그대로.
I wanted to wipe Miguel’s tears away.
I went to him
wiped away his tears, and hugged him.
He wrapped his arms around my waist,
and I could feel his hot tears.
I stroked Miguel’s hair
and calmed him down.
Then, from behind us,
I heard something thud to the floor.
"What... is this situation right now?"
Hunji was standing there.
I was flustered for a moment,
but since I thought it was a misunderstanding that could be cleared up quickly,
I kept holding Miguel.
Hunji left the bag he’d dropped behind
and went back outside.
I reassured Miguel first.
"Miguel, I won’t tell Hunji.
Don’t worry.
Go wash up and rest first."
And then
I immediately followed after Hunji.
"Get up already. What do you think you’re doing right now?"
