We decided not to cross the line (Season 2)

Episode 75. An Unexpected Guest

After accidentally running into Wonhee oppa at a cafe,

on the way home, I called Soyeon.

"Soyeon, guess who I ran into today?"

"Why? Who did you meet?

Could it be your first love?"

"Yup!! That's right. You’d better lay out a mat first."

"What? You met Wonhee oppa?"

"Yeah. He came to our cafe as a customer today.

I was totally shocked."

"Whoa!! How did you end up going there?

What was it like seeing your first love?"

Soyeon's voice over the phone

rose high.

"Well...

seeing oppa brought back a lot of memories

from my twenties."

"Back then, you broke up when Wonhee oppa went abroad

to study, right?"

At the time, that oppa's mom said to get married

and go together, but you said no.

Look at my memory, huh."

"Yeah. That's right.

Wonhee oppa's mother was very nice to me..."

"If you had gone abroad with oppa back then,

you'd probably have two kids by now."

"Who knows whether I'd have two kids or be divorced?

Oppa's divorced now."

"What? Really?

He had such a gentle, nice personality,

so why did he get divorced?"

"I couldn't ask that much.

Huh? Soyeon. I'm getting a call.

I'll call you back later. Sorry!"

"Okay. Get home safely!"

After hanging up and looking at the screen,

it was a call from Hunji.

I answered right away.

"Hello? Hunji!"

"Who are you talking to for so long?"

"Soyeon.

You know, I today...

No, never mind. It's nothing."

"What is it? Why do you stop halfway through?"

"Why did you call, Hunji?"

"I had a little time, so I called.

Where are you now?"

"I'm on my way home."

"Didn't noona call you today?"

"No."

"Then it's fine.

I think I'll finish filming late today.

Don't wait up—go to sleep first."

"Okay. Do well with filming!!

Do you have time to eat dinner?"

"I don't think I'll have time...

I'll figure something out."

"At least eat a salad.

An empty stomach isn't good for you."

"What are you going to have for dinner, Jeong-a?"

"As for me... once Miguel comes in, I guess I'll eat with him.

Hunji! You're triangles and squares!"

"Triangles and squares!"

The next afternoon.

Jiseong was working hard at the cafe, and

I was busy getting through my translation work,

which had a deadline to meet.

Then the cafe door opened,

and a middle-aged woman came in.

"Jeong-a!!!"

I jumped in surprise and looked up from my work.

"Gasp... Mother!! How have you been?"

With a happy heart,

I went to her in a few quick steps.

"After hearing about you from Wonhee yesterday,

I was so happy.

And since it's not far from our house,

I came to see you right away today!"

"Oh my... You haven't aged a bit?

You look exactly the same as the last time I saw you."

"You still talk so sweetly.

Goodness... oh my...

Seeing you again like this, Jeong-a."

"Mother, please sit here.

What would you like to drink?"

"Is a drink really the issue right now?

You sit down here quickly too."

Her mother pointed to the chair across from her

and urged me on.

"Jiseong. Please give us one matcha latte here."

I suddenly remembered that Mother

used to love green tea.

And I sat down in the seat across from her.

"I was really surprised to see oppa yesterday too.

I heard he switched jobs to a company around here."

"Mm. Right.

Looks like he went to that company to see you.

You're still not married?"

"No... things just ended up that way."

"Do you have a boyfriend?"

"Yes. I do."

"Ah... you do..."

A look of disappointment flickered across her face.

"Our Wonhee... did you hear he got divorced?"

"Yes. From oppa yesterday."

"Did he tell you the reason too?"

"No. I didn't hear the reason."

"His ex-wife cheated on him."

"Oh my... really?"

"Wonhee isn't the type to be all that fun, is he?

Still, that doesn't mean he'd cheat..."

"So that happened..."

For a moment, silence fell.

"Jeong-a, are you going to marry your boyfriend now?"

"Me?... I don't know.

His family is against it...

and so is my older sister."

Her eyes widened as she asked,

"No, why? Why are they against you?"

"I'm older than him. And... it's kind of complicated."

"Oh dear... then cut that off

and meet our Wonhee.

I'd welcome you with open arms."

"Should I, Mother?"

The two of us traded jokes

and laughed together.

After chatting for quite a while,

I got up to prepare some coffee beans for her.

"Just a moment, Mother.

We got some new beans in, and I'll grind them for you,

so brew them at home."

I stood up and turned toward the kitchen.

And almost collapsed right there.

At another table, Hunji's older sister was sitting there.

While chatting with Mother,

I hadn't paid attention to who came and went at all.

'How long has she been here?'

I bowed my head first and greeted her.

"Hello?"

She greeted me back too.

"Just a moment. I have a customer here."

I went to the kitchen first, packed up the beans, and came back out.

By then, Hunji's older sister had already left her seat.

I handed the beans to Wonhee oppa's mother

and saw her off as well.

The moment I came back into the cafe, I walked over to Jiseong.

"Jiseong, the woman who left a little while ago,

when did she come in?"

"It seems like it's been quite a while.

She came in not long after your customer did earlier,"

he said.

Before Jiseong could even finish,

a message notification rang on my phone.

It was Hunji's older sister.

[Jeong-a.

I left earlier because you had a customer.

I'd like to have lunch together tomorrow...

Please contact me.]

'Lunch?

Is she opening up to me...? '

I sank into thought for a moment.

Looking at her message,

I couldn't make up my mind.

Was it kindness? Or did it mean something else?

I couldn't tell whether I should be happy or wary.

"Hunji was so furious..."
