A fairy's hope
Chapter 2

The long flight exhausted Dea, so she took a seat next to a pillar in the lobby.

A group of young fairies stopped to greet her.

They were talking excitedly about the flower crowns they would wear in the sorcerers' ceremony.

"You should come," said a fairy as she placed a beautiful crown on her head.

Dea
"Have fun for me," she smiled at them. "Maybe I can join you tomorrow."

Winter
"I'm sorry to interrupt this joyous moment," Winter announced, walking towards them.

The lobby fell silent as a cold breeze swept through, and the fairies exchanged awkward glances.

Dea
"Don't worry, our sisters were already leaving," she declared calmly, noticing their unease.

The young fairies left Bhell Caeruleum; they had seen Winter only a few times, and none of them really knew her.

Their presence always caused them fear.

Dea
"How have you been, Winter?" the fairy would address her politely, as the oldest ones always did.

Winter
"No apparent changes," he replied neutrally as he took a seat next to her.

Narradora
Waiting for the right moment to tell him the reason for his visit.

Dea
"What a beautiful necklace!" she exclaimed upon closer inspection. "I didn't know you liked elven jewelry."

Winter
"It belonged to... a friend," she said without emotion. "Sometimes I forget I'm carrying it."

Dea
"Did he also die in the war?" he asked cautiously.

Winter
"Only her heart, there was no way to heal her," he sighed.

Dea
"I don't understand... What do you mean?" It was the first time I had ever heard anything like that.

Winter
"You have lived for lightning flashes," he began, always finding it difficult to reveal the secret of his icy domains.

Some fairies burst into tears upon learning the truth.

Winter
"How many sisters your age are left on the planet?"

Dea
"Well... I couldn't possibly go wrong with something so important. Now there are five of us." Her tone turned somber. "We lost six in the war."

Winter
"I think you're forgetting how many flowers there are on a bush," she said, standing up and extending her hand.

Winter
"I will take you to the garden of blossoming so that you may understand."

Dea
"I'm old, but my memories are perfectly preserved," she declared, a little offended.

Winter
"I have no doubt," he said to reassure her. "Only powerful magic could erase them... I can help you."

Winter
"You don't have to keep carrying the pain."

Winter grabbed her sister's arm before she flew away; from the expression on her face, it was easy to guess what she was thinking.

Self-pity is a sign of selfishness in fairies.

Narradora
From a young age they learn to be happy by helping others.

Narradora
The sadness must be overcome as soon as possible in order to continue with your tasks.

The first lightning bolts far from humans were a great test, which they fortunately overcame thanks to the sorcerers.

Those who allowed them to take care of their sons and daughters while they grew up.

But how did Winter know about Dea's deepest thoughts?

That type of magic was forbidden to fairies; entering the minds of others would cause them conflict.

They had to help without questioning the goodness and evil within each being they protected.

Dea
*Perhaps the winter fairy is in charge of punishing those who break the laws* fear overwhelmed her as she thought of her fate.

Dea
"Please!" she pleaded in a trembling voice.

Dea
"I will no longer be selfish... I will strive to remember our sisters without feeling pain."

Winter
"Four hundred sparks is too long." Winter gave her an icy look before transporting her to the frozen lands.
