Still, I felt I needed to do something to help. This was already my second injury, and I wanted to do my part, even if it was behind the scenes. So, I slowly began to recall the incident from the very beginning. With Detective Jeong, of course.

As the call with Detective Jeong hung up, the only sound in the Violent Crimes Unit 1 office was the sound of typing. Everyone was busy preparing for the potential investigation difficulties if the request wasn't accepted. Detective Kim hung up the receiver and placed his hands on the computer keyboard.

After Inspector Kim knocked on the door several times, a police superintendent's voice came from inside, telling him to come in. After catching his breath a few more times, Inspector Kim opened the door and entered the police superintendent's office.

"Sir. This is Inspector Kim and Chief Kim from Violent Crimes Unit 1."

"Ah- Come in. It's been a while."

"You came to me in person. Are you very busy?"

"Yes. I will get right to it without any introduction."

"A person who is being identified as a prime suspect in the elementary school mass disappearance case we are currently investigating has come forward."

"I would like to request permission to conduct an internal investigation into the suspect's personal cafe."

The resonance of his grave voice echoed throughout the police station. The officer's eyes landed on Sergeant Kim, then shifted to a small notebook. Holding a pen in one hand, he prepared to take notes and asked a question.

"What evidence supports him?"

"The only evidence collected is a nailed-on door in a corner of the suspect's personal cafe before Officer Ha was knocked unconscious by the suspect."

"But, this is my last hope, so I came here to give it a try."

"There's no evidence whatsoever. Please... I beg you to allow me."

"Okay. I'll submit the application."

김석진 [32]

"...yes?"

경무관 [43]

"What? Why are you surprised?"

Superintendent Kim and Chief Kim relaxed their grip on their uniforms and looked at the superintendent, who smiled and readily pulled out the internal investigation application form, saying it was the only thing he could offer Team 1.

"Inspector... Thank you so much. Really."

김석진 [32]

"I will definitely catch the culprit."

"...Okay. Go quickly."

As Superintendent Kim and Chief Kim left the police commissioner's office, the commissioner sighed deeply. He turned over his cell phone, where it had been lying face down, and found a text message on the superintendent's phone. The sender was Officer Hae-joo.

Only after receiving permission did they return to Domun-dong. Entering HE Cafe, where a notice announcing temporary closure was posted on the door, the heavy scent of Ha Hyun-seong's perfume, still lingering, assaulted the nostrils of Team 1.

The kitchen was littered with dirty cups and coffee beans. The tables where guests sat weren't exactly clean, however. Coffee spills remained, and used tissues were still on the table and floor.

As Officer Ha had stated, I decided to go into the kitchen and take a look. Going a little further in, I found a truly iron door with nails driven into it.

"By any chance, have you found the missing elementary school students yet?"

김석진 [32]

"Yeah. Why."

"This door... can't you open it just once?"

김석진 [32]

"This door?"

김석진 [32]

".....Detective Kim. Open this door."

김남준 [30]

"This door? Just a moment..."

Sergeant Kim pulled out his tools and began prying open the door, but it was so tightly nailed that it wouldn't open. Sweating profusely, Sergeant Kim concentrated on prying open the door. He then sent Officer Jeon to the door, saying he felt like he had to just break it open.

김석진 [32]

"Be careful, Officer Jeon."

After the former police officer banged his body against the door several times and kicked it with his foot, the iron door completely fell off and fell into the room, revealing the space behind it where he had been hiding.

What I saw when the door opened was shocking. A few pieces of food and water were strewn about, and duct tape was also placed in one corner. After a frantic search, I discovered several boxes, roughly the size of a child, stacked haphazardly.

Six people got together and opened the lids of those boxes.

All 14 missing elementary school students have been found.

After contacting the missing parents, removing the duct tape from the children's mouths, and contacting rescue workers to help them, I finally felt a sense of relief. I checked my phone and saw several calls.
