Jiseok short story collection (visual)

The start of a sweet morning

[BG: A quiet kitchen (a peaceful lodging where dazzling morning sunlight pours in)]

On a dazzling morning, sunlight poured into the quiet kitchen, brightly illuminating the tiny dust motes dancing in the air. The lodging was completely peaceful. The hyungs had already gone out a few hours earlier for their radio schedule, leaving only the two of us with all the time in the apartment.

Jiseok seemed determined to spend this rare day off well by cooking, but when he actually got to work, he was a little clumsy and all over the place.

Jiseok: [Standing in front of the gas stove in an oversized gray hoodie / with a light dusting of white flour on his left cheekbone and the front of the hoodie pocket]

His broad shoulders looked unbelievably warm and cozy. With his hearing aid on, Jiseok was adjusting the volume to match the kitchen’s quiet, gentle mood. He didn’t want to miss the soft sizzle of butter in the pan.

Jiseok: [Carefully lifting the spatula with a deeply focused, serious expression / trying to flip a pancake that’s gone a little misshapen]

Normally, Jiseok was more the type to show things through actions than words, but when we were left alone and he could fully relax, his signature playful, sly side came out without any filter.

Jiseok: [Turning his head to look at me / pouting playfully with that bright, radiant smile of his that makes the whole room feel ten times warmer]

"Don’t laugh, this is a strategic shape, you know."

Jiseok: [Pouting his lips slightly and pointing at the frying pan]

"I originally meant to make it a star shape. The batter just spread out more than I expected."

Me: [Leaning against the counter across from him, smiling softly as I tease him lightly]

"Looks more like a failed cloud."

Jiseok: [Looking completely caught off guard by the unexpected ambush / setting down the spatula with a low, happy laugh resonating in his chest]

Jiseok: [Closing the distance between us in a single confident step, completely blocking out the rest of the kitchen]

Jiseok: [Reaching out with both large, warm hands, wrapping my waist softly but firmly with his palms and pressing me fully against the edge of the counter]

Jiseok: [Tilting his head down a little to meet my eye level as he leans in close]

With Jiseok coming impossibly close, so close there was nowhere left to retreat, his warm chest touched mine and the distance between us vanished completely. Looking at the corners of Jiseok’s eyes, folding so prettily with a steadfast, unwavering affection directed entirely at me

Jiseok: [Lingering at a distance that was just barely brushing my cheek / speaking lowly with a look in his eyes that sparked sweet, mischievous sparks]

"You say it looks like a failed cloud?"

Jiseok: [Letting out a low, breathy laugh, his shoulders lifting lightly with uncontrollable delight]

"That’s quite a bold statement for someone who hasn’t even tasted my cooking yet."

Jiseok: [Releasing the right hand that had been wrapped around my waist, then gently guiding my left hand to rest softly over his chest]

Jiseok: [Whispering in a quiet, relaxed tone, in a low and deep voice]

"I’ll really do my absolute best today, so take back the part about it looking like a cloud."

Jiseok: [Leaning just a little closer and leaving a soft, lingering kiss on my lips]

Jiseok: [Then parting his lips and flashing that dazzlingly bright smile once more]

"Now, wait patiently. This batch is going to be perfect, no matter what."

Jiseok: [Giving my waist one affectionate squeeze before letting go and walking back to the gas stove]

[BG: A warm kitchen bathed in sunlight]

He was practically overflowing with the cute energy of the youngest, looking utterly thrilled. Cozy in the kitchen’s warmth, watching his back as he happily hummed to himself while cooking the next batch, I couldn’t help thinking the winner of this pancake war had already been decided.
