Love is better than pain
29. With You, My Last Wish (1/2)

Around 3 am.

A cough breaks the silence, suddenly ringing out.

강시연
"Ugh...!!"

Siyeon, sweating profusely and trembling in pain, jumped up and ran to the bathroom.

디에잇(명호)
“Siyeon?!”

Myeongho opened his eyes with a start and followed her straight to the bathroom.

There was a demonstration there where he leaned over the toilet and vomited blood.

His fingertips were trembling, his back was hunched, and there was blood at the corner of his mouth.

디에잇(명호)
“It’s okay… Siyeon, it’s okay…”

Myungho stroked Siyeon's back with trembling hands and carefully supported her.

Carefully cleaning up in the bathroom and wiping her hands and face—Myeongho bit his lip.

If only I could take this pain for myself.

Myungho took Siyeon back to the bed, laid her down, gave her some water and painkillers, and sat quietly next to her.

강시연
"…sorry…"

At Siyeon's weakly mumbling words, Myeongho immediately grabbed her hand and stroked her cheek with the other hand.

디에잇(명호)
“It’s okay. Everything’s okay. I’m here, Siyeon.”

At those words, Siyeon's eyes wavered.

강시연
"Whew..."

A long time passed, and dawn came, the pain subsiding a little.

Beyond the hospital window, moonlight and starlight quietly descended. Beneath that dim light, Myeongho carefully massaged Siyeon's arms and legs and asked.

디에잇(명호)
“…Are you feeling any better?”

강시연
“…Yes. Thanks to you. Really… thank you.”

디에잇(명호)
"This isn't even a thing. I'm just grateful to be by your side."

He lowered his head and whispered quietly.

디에잇(명호)
“Even when you’re sick like this, I’ll be there for you. I’m sorry I can’t be with you in pain.”

At those words, Siyeon quietly hugged Myeongho.

디에잇(명호)
“Don’t get sick… please…”

***

A long silence. A time when only our body heat filled the space.

After a while, Siyeon said with a small smile.

강시연
"Mr. Myungho..."

디에잇(명호)
"huh?"

강시연
“Shall we… go on a date later?”

At those words, Myeongho smiled quietly and nodded.

디에잇(명호)
"Okay. Let's do that."

At that moment, a dim dawn appeared beyond the window.

No matter how much it hurt, love was rising again like the sun that day.
