OPPORTUNITY: Opportunity

#01

My family was wealthy.

A successful businessman father, and a mother who was always by his side, supporting him.

Of course, this is a story from when I was eight years old.

When I was nine, my father lost his company after being scammed by a friend, and our house was put on red alert.

Mom cried every day, and Dad drank alcohol while watching her.

When I was twelve, my parents divorced. I hated the smell of alcohol, so I followed my mother out of the house.

Although they were poor, the two of them were happy in their own way.

But, could it be that even that small happiness could not be granted to me?

When I first entered middle school, my mother died.

It was cancer, but I couldn't get treatment on time because I didn't have money.

Everyone looked at me with pity. They said it was a pity, and my friends' mothers even patted me on the head, telling me I could handle it.

I naturally went to my dad. He was still living a life dependent on alcohol.

From my second year of middle school, I started thinking about ways to make money. I worked until my bones were crushed, earning far less than the hourly wage.

The money I earned that way was used to buy my meals at the convenience store every day.

After I entered high school, I realized.

The only way for me to survive is to study.

So I studied like crazy. I picked up and solved textbooks that other people had thrown away.

I memorized words while working part-time.

I did that for 3 years,

The result was elimination. No matter how hard I rubbed my eyes, my name wasn't on the list of successful candidates.

That's how I got lucky. I cut down my normal four-hour sleep to three and studied hard, even through nosebleeds every day.

Effort did not betray.

I was admitted to a prestigious university as the top student, and I had my first girlfriend.

I lived a good life, completely independent from my father. I thought I would be truly happy.

however.

Loan sharks came to visit. They said my father borrowed 100 million won and died without paying it back.

We've been living apart for years, what the hell is this?

I took a few private lessons and studied while working part-time at a convenience store at night.

Because this was the only way for me to live.

Thankfully and sadly, my girlfriend, who was my last hope in life, gave me some money.

That day, I cried and decided to marry this woman. All I wanted was to make a lot of money and make her happy.

And the woman who was the goal of my life,

He was declared brain dead in a sudden traffic accident and passed away after saving five lives.

Sadly, I didn't have the financial wherewithal to grieve for very long.

This month's rent and living expenses were something I had to worry about for several days before I could even afford them.

I immediately began preparing for the civil service exam. I studied harder than I ever did when I was retaking the exam, going without sleep and relying on caffeine to get through the year.

I cried for hours when I saw my name on the list of successful civil service exam candidates. It felt like my efforts were finally being recognized.

For the first time in my life, I decided to spend money for myself.

Instead of taking the bus, I took a taxi to a fancy restaurant. The thought of enjoying a sumptuous steak all by myself made me feel good.

I got into the taxi and smiled, and the driver asked if I had any good news.

I proudly told him I had passed the civil service exam. The reporter congratulated me as if it were his own.

My eyes are closing. It seems like all the accumulated fatigue is coming back to me.

I closed my eyes tightly.

I felt comfortable and happy, like walking on clouds.

It was a feeling of happiness I'd never felt before. A smile came to my face.

"Student, student! Open your eyes."

"Student, can you hear me? Student!"

So I,

I fell asleep forever.

Kwak Yu-tae...

The first thing I see when I open my eyes is the house I lived in when I was nine. The grand lighting, the display case.

Even the carpets are laid out luxuriously.

Oh, what is this...?

A life filled with nothing but misery. A god who never gave me a moment of happiness.

To me,

The opportunity has arrived.

A chance to change the past.

An opportunity to turn misfortune into happiness.

that can change my life

opportunity.
