Special Investigation Team BTS Complete

EP 01. A New Beginning

I am twenty-five years old.

At a time when other college students were just starting to leave their parents' arms and start new lives, I was leaving the arms of the military and starting a new life.

김여주

"So-called Kim Yeo-ju. Did you call?"

"Oh, right. Congratulations, Lieutenant Kim Yeo-ju. You've been posted to Korea starting tomorrow."

김여주

"Are you speaking Korean?"

"Yes. We were asked to select the person who best excelled in training, incident-solving skills, and leadership evaluations conducted in Uruk, and Lieutenant Kim was chosen."

"I don't know the exact reason either, so don't ask me. Just go."

김여주

"yes…?"

"What are you doing? Why don't you hurry up and pack your bags? Didn't you hear me telling you to go?"

김여주

“…Oh, no. So-called Kim Yeo-ju. I’ll be going now.”

Not knowing what I was doing or why I had come, I arrived in Korea the next day with a load as big as my body on my back.

Anyway, since I arrived in Korea earlier than planned, I was planning to take it slow by seeing my family whom I hadn't seen in two years, but as soon as I left the airport, I saw a sign that said, "A warm welcome to Lieutenant Kim Yeo-ju," and I ended up lowering my head.

'I guess I won't even be able to go near my house. I was expecting nothing.'

“Well then, that’s right,” I muttered to myself as I followed the person who came to pick me up and got into the black sedan.

After about an hour's drive, the black sedan stopped in front of a fairly old-looking police station.

"Come down. If you go inside, he'll be here shortly."

김여주

"You're coming? Who…?"

The person who had given me a lift here didn't even have time to hear my voice asking who was coming, and as soon as he saw that I had all gotten out of the car, he drove away without even saying a word.

I was looking at the back of the car, which had now disappeared into a small dot, and then I sighed and looked at the old police station that had been set up right in front of me.

김여주

“Pungsan… police station?”

The sign, which was so wobbly that it didn't seem strange if it fell off at any moment, indicated that this was the Pungsan Police Station, and I stepped inside, wondering why a soldier had been assigned to the police station.

김여주

"Excuse me…."

all…….

As I entered the police station, I raised my head, which had been bowed, and lost the ability to finish my sentence.

"……."

"……"

People in various outfits, from neat suits to open shirts, enjoyed their individual play without saying a word, and an awkward atmosphere flowed leisurely between them.

It's obviously warmer inside than outside, but why does it feel warmer outside?

In the December weather, a cold silence hung over the police station, as if someone had turned on the air conditioner. Unable to say anything, let alone say hello, I simply placed my bag down on a chair that looked empty.

-Suddenly

"Oh, everyone's here. I'm sorry I didn't greet you earlier. I'm Kim Young-cheol, Commissioner General of the National Police Agency."

Just then, another man came in through the door I had just entered. He introduced himself as the Chief of Police, took off his hat, nodded, and greeted me.

None of them responded to the greeting, which was less formal than expected, and the police chief shrugged and passed it by, not seeming to be particularly offended.

"The violent crime rate has increased exponentially over the past five years, so the government has decided to form a new organization. This organization will begin here, at the Pungsan Police Station, and its members will be you, here."

"First, Army Captain Kim Seok-jin. He is the head of this organization and team leader."

"thank you."

"Navy Captain Min Yoongi. I am the deputy leader of this organization."

"……."

"Air Force Second Lieutenant Kim Nam-joon. In charge of operations and training planning."

"Yes. I will work hard."

"Air Force Lieutenant Jeong Ho-seok. I'm in charge of training."

"yes."

"Army Second Lieutenants Park Jimin and Kim Taehyung. They are in charge of action."

"……."

"All right."

"Second Lieutenant Jeon Jeong-guk of the Army and Second Lieutenant Kim Yeo-ju of the Army. They are both in charge of public security."

"yes."

"…all right."

After hearing everyone's answers, the police chief looked at everyone with expectant eyes, smiled, and nodded.

"Although it is not an officially formed organization, it is an organization of exceptionally skilled soldiers formed specifically for the safety of the Republic of Korea. I hope that they will protect the people as much as they protect the country."

As I looked at the police chief who nodded and said, "Please take care of me," I turned my gaze and scanned the faces of the people who had been giving off a cold vibe until just a moment ago.

‘These people… were all soldiers.’

Now that I know, I had no idea what kind of job he had since he wasn't wearing a military uniform, but now that I know, I feel a sense of kinship.

"Well then, if you want to know more, ask Captain Kim Seok-jin, the team leader, and we'll see you next time."

"Ah, sir."

A man stopped the police chief as he was leaving the police station, as if he had finished speaking, and our eyes automatically turned to him.

"So, what is the name of our organization... no, our team?"

“Um… didn’t I tell you that?”

The police chief let out a hearty laugh, saying he'd forgotten. Then, five words came out of his mouth.

"Special Investigation Unit."

Special Investigation Unit.

"Your team name is Special Investigation Unit."

A new life began here.
