Episode 3 - Talking behind someone's back

"Ding-dong-dang-dong!"

The school bell rang, and the kids unfolded their umbrellas and walked home at a leisurely pace.

Seolhwa stood just outside the school gate, looking a little flustered, unable to leave.

"Huh? Ah, yeah..."

Taehyun silently took an umbrella out of his bag and held it out in front of Seolhwa.

"Hey... you'll get wet. It's fine. Whatever, I'll just get rained on."

"Then want to share mine? It's raining a lot. Where do you live?"

"I do live nearby, but I feel bad about it, so..."

Taehyun grabbed Seolhwa by the arm, led her out of the school, and opened the umbrella.

"It's okay. Let's go."

???

"Whoa, no way;; the transfer student from Class 3 is with Kang Taehyun!"

???

"What's with her? Look at her clinging to him the second she transfers over."

Neither Taehyun nor Seolhwa knew about the backlash that was waiting ahead.

The next day.

Seolhwa arrived at school at the usual time and sat in the seat next to Taehyun like she had yesterday.

???

"Hey hey, the guy-crazy one is here!"

???

"ㅋㅋㅋ This is so freaking funny, he knows they're talking about him and still looks over."

'...I was being careful. So nothing like last time would happen... I finally transferred here, and now even here...'

Seolhwa had no idea what to do in the face of the intense badmouthing and kept her head down.

Tears welled up for no reason.

Then.

"Hey, can't you all shut up? Why are you making a scene in someone else's class?"

The kids who had been cursing Seolhwa looked flustered and started whispering among themselves.

???

"Hah, he's really fallen hard."

???

"Damn it, Kang Taehyun is mineㅜㅜ"

Then, from a corner of the classroom, someone let out a sigh and shouted at the girls.

"Hey, are you deaf? Get lost! You're so loud it's driving me crazy, seriously."

When Seolhwa looked up, she met the eyes of Choi Yeonjun, the scary delinquent she'd heard rumors about since the first day she transferred.
