The scorching sun illuminated the dark room, the persistent ringing of the phone, made her move on her bed. She kept tossing and turning, waiting for the phone to stop ringing at some point. But after figuring out that it was not going to happen any time sooner, she finally kicked her heels and got out of the bed.
She answered the phone without caring to look at the caller details on the screen as she made her way to the bathroom.
Babe. You up?
This voice was something she got used to. And without much thinking, she hummed in her morning raspy tone.
And as if the whole situation was very well pictured in the person's head, he didn't mind for any answer, instead just carried on talking.
I'll be over there in 10 minutes. I'm on my way .... I - I hope you DO remember we've got our plans for today.
As he emphasized on his 'DO', she continued humming to his every question. And at the end of the phone call, she finished her morning routines and headed over to her wardrobe and picked out some Lacey dress in less than a minute.
Hyena was not the typical girly type to spend hours picking clothes, or to entertain herself throughout the day doing lovey dovey things. She was mature and in fact, found all of those things quite useless and insensible. She hardly ever even smiled. Except for when she is with her patients. As some sort of a compulsive formality.
And her boyfriend Yohan, who dated her for over 2 years now, got used to her way of thinking and living. He never really complained much, despite being the total opposite of her personality. Even their colleagues at the hospital wondered how they ended up together.
She received his message in the meantime informing her that he was in the parking area of her building and asking her to come down. With a slight frown, she grabbed her purse and reached for the elevator.
Her eyes were fixed on her phone screen and when the elevator door opened, without even looking ahead, she went in with her eyes following notifications on her phone. A sweet tone of someone clearing their throat made turn her head. She quickly bowed and soon the person who earlier cleared their throat just to get her attention, bowed too. They ended up exchanging smiles and soon enough Hyena asked him his name. She cursed herself tons of times the other day for not asking his name. She even wondered how it mattered to her, clearly seeing no point in just knowing his name, but in that moment, she just went with the flow.
Seongwu. Ong Seongwu.
The man answered in between his chuckles.
I'm Hyena Kim. No, Lee ... I mean. Lee Hyena. Kim is my boyfriend's ... Umm..
His chuckles now turned into a laughter. Even she couldn't believe how clumsy she could get at times. Although she was never like this before.
They got the briefest time anyone could get considering the ice breaking before the elevator door opened.
And this must be Mr. Kim?
Seongwu jokingly retorted. And Hyena froze in her place, somehow feeling guilty for just mere exchange of names. And she ended up stuttering

But Yohan gently took her hands and pulled her away towards his car. She observed his face closely to tell if he was irritated or annoyed, but his face remained poignant and she just trailed behind him towards his car.
