At first, he thought it was just a simple mistake.
But strange things kept turning up.
Things Noa didn’t remember.
Tastes that had changed from before.
A subtly different way of speaking.
And above all—
the look in their eyes when they looked at him.
Little by little, Yejun became more and more certain that that look was different from the old Noa’s.
---
It was recess.
Yejun sat down beside Noa’s desk.
"Noa."
"Huh?"
"Do you remember the promise we made back then?"
Noa looked at Yejun.
"What promise?"
Yejun froze for a moment.
"...You don’t remember?"
"Nope."
"It was a promise the two of us made."
Noa pretended to think for a moment.
Then he laughed.
"Sorry. I really don’t remember."
Yejun said nothing.
That promise had been made just a few months ago.
If it was Noa, there was no way he would forget it.
Yejun decided to check one last time.
"Then do you remember this too?"
Yejun took out his phone and showed a photo.
In the photo, Yejun and Noa were together.
"Where did we go that day?"
Noa looked at the photo.
"...A café near the school?"
Yejun’s expression stiffened.
Wrong.
That day, it hadn’t been a café.
It was the place where the two of them had first become close.
And the story tied to that place was known only to Yejun and Noa.
Yejun slowly put his phone down.
"No."
"Huh?"
"We didn’t go to a café that day."
Noa quietly looked at Yejun.
Yejun looked straight back into those eyes.
"You went to the park with me that day."
Silence.
For an instant, Noa’s expression stiffened.
Yejun didn’t miss that small change.
And he was sure of it.
The person in front of him now was not Noa.
"...Who are you?"
The smile vanished from Noa’s face.
"What are you talking about all of a sudden?"
"My friend Han Noa wouldn’t say he doesn’t remember things like that."
"...."
"And he wouldn’t make that kind of expression either."
Yejun stood up from his seat.
"You’re not Han Noa."
For a moment, it felt as if the sounds of the classroom drifted far away.
Noa said nothing.
Watching that, Yejun hardened his certainty.
The friend he had known had disappeared.
And now, in that place—
was someone else wearing Han Noa’s face.
---
That night.
In the depths of darkness.
The real Han Noa was still sealed away.
He couldn’t do anything.
Couldn’t move,
couldn’t speak,
couldn’t even react to Yejun’s voice.
He couldn’t even tell that Yejun was suspecting him.
He was simply trapped in consciousness sealed shut completely.
And in reality, Han Seoa was quietly staring at the mirror.
Looking at her own face in the mirror, she murmured,
"...Got caught."
Seoa slowly smiled.
"But it’s fine."
Her gaze turned to her own eyes in the mirror.
"Yejun still can’t do anything yet."
And then she said very quietly,
"Because Noa can’t get out of here."
