Episode 14 - Ex-girlfriend (2)

Even after meeting alone with Yu-jeong after school, Tae-hyun said nothing.

“...”

Yu-jeong wanted to ask who it was, but she couldn’t bring herself to ask.

No, she didn’t want to know.

Because of the thought that maybe she, someone who shouldn’t have been here, had instead gotten in the way of Seolhwa and Tae-hyun.

If that were true, it would be too pathetic.

 

A silence hung in the classroom, with only Yu-jeong and Tae-hyun left.

If it had been like usual, Tae-hyun would have

“You’re not going to ask who it was?”

and asked cutely, but

he was quiet, unnervingly so.

“Today… it’s been kind of a chaotic day, huh.”

Even when Yu-jeong tried to talk, Tae-hyun just silently stared at the classroom floor, as if all the answers were there.

Yu-jeong felt like she might cry at the sight, but she held it in.

‘In the end, am I… nothing to Tae-hyun? …Like an extra in a story living in the wrong world, I was never really anything to begin with…’

Those thoughts came rushing in and clawed at Yu-jeong’s chest.

“You don’t really want to talk, do you… Okay, I get it. …I’m going home for today.”

Even as he watched Yu-jeong hurriedly gather her bag and get ready to leave, Tae-hyun just looked at her with a hurt expression and said nothing at all.

‘Why are you the one making that face… I’m the one hurting here…’

“Just… stay with me a little longer…”

Seeing Tae-hyun stop her in a cracked voice, Yu-jeong turned around and hugged him.

“I’ll stay with you as long as you want. If it’s hard… then say something, you idiot.”

Yu-jeong ignored the tears welling up in Tae-hyun’s eyes.
