I brought a black-haired beast home

Episode 9 - I'll come every day

As usual, I opened Hamin's door to go bother him, then froze. Why was it such a mess? I opened my mouth, ready to tease him, but for a moment it felt like something was caught in my throat and the words wouldn't come. Looking at the things scattered around the room, I had a bad feeling for some reason.

"Yoo Hamin, what are you doing?"

Hamin, who was sitting on the floor, answered briefly.

"Packing."

Looking closer, it wasn't just a mess. Hamin was folding clothes neatly, and what I'd thought was garbage turned out to be two suitcases and some small boxes.

Packing?

Hamin set down the clothes he was folding and turned his head to look at me. His eyes seemed to ask why I was pretending not to know. Only then did I remember that Hamin was staying at our house for a while. Until he got used to school and had a place to stay. That had been the plan from the start.

"...When are you leaving?"

"Tomorrow."

I knew he was going to leave someday, but it seemed I'd completely forgotten at some point. I hadn't even realized tomorrow was that someday. Tomorrow? My expression instantly hardened.

I clenched my fist and glared at Hamin with all my might.

"You're telling me this for the first time."

"Well, we'd still see each other every day even if I moved out."

What the hell.

Still, shouldn't you tell your girlfriend something like this? There's a huge difference between seeing each other every day and living together. I was tempted to storm out of the room and at least make it obvious I was angry. But it also felt wrong to just leave like that.

I went into the room, closed the door, and locked it. Hamin was facing away, folding clothes again, and didn't seem to notice I'd even locked the door.

"You don't really think I'm like an older sister, do you?"

"Huh?"

I took a step at a time toward Hamin. I grabbed him by the collar and yanked him up, his face showing he had no idea what was going on. As Hamin awkwardly got to his feet, I collided my lips with his like a headbutt.

"Ngh, no. Noona, what are you..."

It had been a kiss started on impulse. At the way he tried to pull me away and the tone of his voice, I lost my sense of direction again.

How dare he talk during a kiss? I caught an opening and shoved my tongue into Hamin's mouth. Hamin always led the kisses, so I didn't really know how to do it, but I kept kissing him rough and hard, as if pouring out the anger boiling inside me.

So annoying. Am I the only one who doesn't want to let go?

As soon as I thought that, I suddenly felt hurt. Hamin looked flustered and didn't react at all. When I opened my eyes a little, sure enough he was looking at me without even closing his eyes. What a damn annoying guy!

I bit down hard on Hamin's lower lip.

"Ah!"

Hamin made a short sound and pulled his head back. Our lips parted, but I was still gripping his collar with one hand.

"I..."

My voice trembled uncontrollably. Ah, I hadn't meant to sound like I was about to cry.

"I don't want to be the one who's the only one to..."

Just as I let my head droop and was about to ask if I was the only one who didn't want to be the one left behind, my body suddenly floated up.

Hamin, covering his mouth with one hand as if his bitten lip hurt, supported my waist with the other arm and lifted me. My body was thrown onto the bed. The soft mattress hit my back and my vision flipped over. And in an instant, Hamin filled my field of view.

"W-what."

Startled, I tried to sit up, but Hamin planted his hands on either side of me. The indifferent face he'd had while packing a moment ago was gone, and the gaze looking down at me had grown quietly heavy. My heart pounded hard at how close he was all of a sudden.

"Noona."

"What."

"At times like this, you should push me away."

"..."

"When a strange guy comes into your room. Vulnerable like this."

Hamin's hand brushed my waist. Along with the ticklish feeling, a shiver ran through me at something else.

Only now did I realize what it meant. My whole body stiffened with tension. Heat rushed to my face.

But right now, I absolutely don't want to lose. After hesitating for a moment, I raised both arms and wrapped them around the back of Hamin's neck.

This time, Hamin's eyes went wide.

The guy who always used to fluster me couldn't say a word this time. He just stared down at me with a stiff face.

That felt a little satisfying.

"Why."

"..."

"No. I'm not pushing you away."

When I tightened my arms around the back of his neck, Hamin's body came a little closer. He'd been acting like he was about to do something at any moment, but now that I'd pulled him in, he seemed flustered. The tips of his ears were turning red little by little. Hmph, it's not like it's anything.

Hamin let out a deep sigh. His still-stiff shoulders gave a small shudder with it. After staying still for a moment, he lowered his head.

Chup.

His lips briefly touched my forehead and then pulled away.

"What was that."

"What do you mean?"

"That's it?"

The corners of Hamin's mouth lifted slightly.

"Don't look so disappointed."

"Who said I was disappointed?"

I tried to loosen my arms and sit up just to spite him, but Hamin was faster and wrapped his arms around my waist first. He pulled my legs in so they'd wrap around his waist. No, this posture is weird... I barely had time to think that before he lifted me right up.

"Hey!"

Startled, I clung tightly to Hamin's neck. Hamin stood up as if nothing was wrong, still holding me. With both arms around his neck and both legs around his waist, I ended up dangling from Hamin like a pendant.

I'm totally a cicada!

Hamin's hand slowly patted my back.

Pat.

Pat.

"Hey, do I look like a kid? You're the younger one!"

"Yeah, yeah."

"What do you mean, yeah, yeah!"

"You were whining that I shouldn't leave, so I thought you were a kid."

"When did I whine!"

I huffed indignantly, then soon felt embarrassed and buried my face in Hamin's shoulder. Hamin kept lightly patting my back.

Being held like this, the suffocating feeling from a moment ago slowly settled down. His strong arms and familiar body heat were exactly the same. Just because we weren't living in the same house didn't mean Hamin was gone.

"Don't worry."

"..."

"We'll be living together soon."

I lifted my face from Hamin's shoulder. I looked at Hamin with an expression that said, What does that mean? Hamin was looking down at me with a rather amused expression.

"What?"

"Once I graduate, maybe we should just get married right away."

"..."

"I'll propose however you want."

"Can you just decide that on your own?"

"You don't like it?"

"No."

The answer came out way too fast. Embarrassed, I buried my face back in Hamin's shoulder. Hamin snickered and stroked my hair. I mumbled with my mouth pressed against his shoulder.

"Then come every day, even if you leave tomorrow."

"Okay."

"If you miss even one day, I won't marry you."

Hamin laughed softly.

"I'll come every day."

I hugged Hamin's neck a little tighter. I felt like I already knew, without needing to ask, who didn't want to let go more.
