“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!”, the group of girls yelled at the one in the center. “Thanks guys.”, she said while smiling. She wrapped her arms around two of her friends shoulders. It cant get much better than this..., she thought. But she couldn’t help the thought that lingered in the back of her brain...’ if only I found my soulmate...’

“So...”, the girl on her left said as they were walking, “...now that your 18, you’re not gonna forget about us once you find your soulmate right?” “Of course not Chrissy. I love you guys too much to forget about you”, she replied while smiling at the girl. Chrissy smiled back and hugged her friend.

After spending the entire day with her friends, Ezra finally arrived home. She lie down and after a few minutes let sleep take over her body.

She woke up the next morning to the sun shining through her open window and straight into her eyes. She groaned and got out of bed. She raised her hands up to rub the sleep out of her eyes but froze when she saw something on her forearm. ‘Hi’, the message read.

She stared at it confused before it clicked on her head. I’m 18 now... I can send messages to my soulmate...’ She couldn’t help the smile that broke on her face as she frantically searched for a marker to send a reply

Once Ezra found a marker after what had felt like an eternity of searching, she quickly scribbled a ‘Hello.’, on the opposite arm. —————————————————————                              Ezra looked at her arm anxiously. It had been almost 5 hours since she sent the message to her soulmate and had received no reply. She was in her 4th period class now, but she wasn’t paying attention to what the teacher was saying. What if they don’t want to talk to me...’, she tried to push the thought out of her head but failed miserably. It wasn’t until she received a tap on the shoulder that she had looked up for the first time that class period.

“Are you okay?”, Chrissy asked her. She didn’t answer and instead just looked back down at her desk. “Art is usually your favorite class...”, Chrissy said in a whispered tone. Ezra looked up and sighed. “I’m fine.”, she said coldly to her friend.

She decided that she should finally pay attention in class so instead of looking back down to stare at the desk, she kept her attention on the board at the front. Everything was going smoothly until she noticed something.

There was a boy in the front row, who looked around the same age as her and Chrissy, writing on his arm. A few seconds later he put his pen down and Ezra felt a tingling sensation on her forearm. ‘Sorry for not replying... I was a little busy this morning’, the message read. She looked at her arm and then back to the boy. ‘No way...’, she thought, it couldn’t be him could it? She decided to test her theory. She picked up her pen and wrote a quick reply: ‘It’s fine, but could you turn around?’

A few seconds later, the boy turned his head with a confused look on his face. Still looking confused, he turned back and faced the front. She then felt another tingling sensation on her arm and read the message, ‘I did it but... why’d you ask?’ She have one last reply saying: ‘no reason’, and put her pen down smiling.

I stared at my arm confused. Was she in this room?’, I thought and turned around once more. I shrugged it off and got up once the bell rang. I headed to my 5th period class. History... fun.’, I thought as I trudged into the room.

I sighed and walked into my 5th period history class. To my surprise, I noticed the boy from art class sitting, again in the front row. I didn’t know he was in this class...’, I thought and sat in the seat next to him.

He reached over and punched my arm lightly without looking up from he is book. “Wow you’re quiet today, Chenle.”, he said sarcastically, still not looking up. “I- I uhm... I’m not Chenle...”, his head snapped up and he looked terrified when he heard the female voice. “Oh my god... I- I’m so sorry.”, he mumbled while hiding his face in his hands, “I thought you were one of my friends...”

“Oh..”, I chuckled lightly, “it’s okay. I did kind of sit next to you without warning.” He gave a small smile and went back to reading. Ezra smiled to herself... she had a plan.

She pulled out a pen and began writing on her arm. ‘What’s your name?’, she had wrote. The boy looked away from his book and towards his arm. He smiled widely, while Ezra watched him. He pulled out a pen and began writing his response. ‘My names Jisung. You?’ She made sure he wasn’t looking and then pulled her pen back out and started writing again. ‘My names Ezra.’

Jisung looked back at his arm and mumbled her name quietly. Ezra gave a slight smirk and said, “I never caught your name...” Jisung looked up wide-eyed and said, “Ah I’m sorry, my names Jisung. What’s yours?” “It’s nice to meet you Jisung. My names Ezra,” , she paused, “and I believe we’re soulmates.”
