Min Yoongi Syndrome

01. It was done

Min Yoongi was like that. He was a kid who won the hearts of those around him with his crazy smile, to put it simply, he lived a life of show-off. At least in my eyes. That's what it looked like. That guy had a talent for captivating people with his pure smile.

Who knows. There might be another face hidden behind that bright smile.

What kind of a coincidence is this? Min Yoongi, who was in my class last year, was in the same class again this year. It was so boring. It was obvious he'd show off his cool and charm the rest of the class. Of course, I'm not the type to fall for that, so it was fine. But kids meeting Min Yoongi for the first time would quickly fall for that fake smile.

The heavens can be so cruel. Because it was the new semester, we sat in order of number, and so I ended up paired with Min Yoongi. What a coincidence. I wanted to storm out, but class would soon begin, so I had no choice but to remain seated.

"hi."
“... Oh, hello.”

Even though we were in the same class last year, we hadn't exchanged a single word, so it felt awkward. It would all change in a few weeks anyway. Just when I was about to decide to just give up and spend the next month, Min Yoongi spoke to me.

“You, we were in the same class last year...”

"... that's right."

"nice to meet you."

"Oh, yeah."

I think Min Yoongi said something again. Honestly, I don't remember much of what we said after that. I usually listen to the teachers in class with one ear and let it go out the other, but I think my ears processed Min Yoongi's words the same way. I don't remember a single word he said. The only conversation we had was formal.

“Class will start soon.”

What I mean by this isClass will start soon, so be quiet.I tried to ignore Min Yoongi's gaze, and rummaged through my bag, listening to my friends muttering about how regular classes would resume from the start of the semester. It was for the first period class.

“Do you have a schedule? If so, could you show it to me?”

Min Yoongi always came to me with that bright smile he always showed at school, asking me a favor. That fake face, voice, and behavior were disgusting. Even if I showed it to you, it wouldn't be of any use to you since we have different classes to go to, right?I held back from saying something unpleasant.I coughed. I pretended to clear my throat and swallowed. That show-off attitude still disgusted me.

The beginning of my senior year of high school, facing college entrance exams, was incredibly bleak. Being a senior was already driving me crazy, but I felt like the world was punishing me for the situations I was facing. What had I done so wrong?

I had a migraine because I thought too much. I kept pressing my head with my hand.I pressed it. I just wish time would pass quickly.

Time flew by and before I knew it, it was lunchtime. Everyone in my class had left to eat. I didn't have anyone to eat with, I had no appetite, and I didn't have the energy to make new friends, so I fell asleep at my desk.

How much time had passed? I couldn't fall into a deep sleep because I usually found it uncomfortable to sleep on my stomach. Eventually, I woke up after less than 15 minutes, and there was a Choco Pie with a notepad stuck to it on my desk. Hmm? I looked closely at the writing on the fluorescent pink notepad attached to the Choco Pie.

Be sure to eat rice next time.
Good luck with your studies.

Handwriting written neatly and clearly with a ballpoint pen.I couldn't help but remember. It was the handwriting of Min Yoongi, the class president last year. The moment I recognized his handwriting, my mood suddenly turned sour and I almost threw the Choco Pie. Was he teasing me when he obviously knew I wasn't studying? I woke up with a start. Feeling bad, I impulsively threw the Choco Pie and the notepad with the disturbing message attached to it into the trash can near the back door. And at that moment, someone opened the back door and came in.

Oh, shit. I'm done.
