It took Jin-Hye about two hours, shopping and her travel time. She came back home and her mom was already preparing the utensils.
"Thanks for your good work, sweetie. Your oppa would appreciate it." Jin-Hye gave off a small smile while putting down the ingredients her mother asked for.
"If you don't need anything else, I'll just be on my room." And before her mom can ask her to help out, she had already left the kitchen.
Jin-Hye has streamed about all Bigbang and 2ne1's songs just to find her inspiration to finish her song for the day and it didn't cross her mind on why her mother hasn't called her down yet when it was already 7 in the evening.
Believe-Grandpa should've been home by now. Unless...
Removing her headphones and putting her equipments to sleep, she head downstairs to see if her brother has arrived already. And just like always, she finds her mom by the table with her phone on hand and the food well set on the table looking so down. She slowly walked towards her mom and gently picked the phone from her hand to check her brother's message.
"I'm sorry, Mom. I won't be able to join you for dinner. The assesment didn't go to well today. The group decided to do some re-arrangements for tonight. I'm really sorry,Mom. See you soon."
Jin-Hye's eyes did not show any hint of surprise from her brother's message as she just sat by her mother's side and began eating.
"That's why I keep telling you,Mom. If this is being so hard on you, you can tell oppa to just stop it." Jin-Hye's patience on her brother has been growing thin ever since her brother have been so dedicated to his training that he tends to neglect his family.
"I'm okay, Jin-Hye. We all know how much your brother wanted this and we will support him all the way through. Someday, this will all be worth it." And just like how thin Jin-Hye's patience is, it was the thickness of her mother's support that always win. No matter what, her mother would keep on supporting her brother. So, Jin-Hye continued eating while taking a glimpse at her mother every now and then whose eyes are still watery. There was nothing she can do once again.
After having dinner, she volunteered to clean up the dishes so that her mother can finally rest for the day and after finishing her chore, she heads back to her room.
Write. Scratch. Write. Scratch.
This is the only kind of progress that have been happening on Jin-Hye's song for tonight. Still a zero. She still can't seem to focus due to the disappointment she once again feels towards her brother. She keeps glancing over her phone, deciding on whether she should give her brother a call or not. By 11 in the evening, she finally makes up her mind and headed to her veranda to give her brother a call.
It took about seven rings until the call was picked up but it was not her brother's voice that she heard.
"I'm sorry. Mino-hyung is currently busy with practice. Is there something you need from him?" It was an unfamiliar voice to her. Not any of the oppas that she know who were his brother's team members. It would also seem that the voice was saying the truth since a loud background music can be heard over the phone. Just when she was just about to drop the call, the background music faded and voices can be heard coming near to the receiver of the call.
"Jinani, who is it?" Although his voice was tired, Jin-Hye easily recognized his brother's voice.
"Here." The receiver of the call, Name, passed the phone over to Mino as it was their team's turn for practice. After just a quick look to the caller's name, Mino immediately answered back.
"Hye-Hye." The noise in the background was fading, giving a hint that her brother went out of training room to have a clear talk with her. "Jin-Hye, look, I'm--"
Jin-Hye suddenly cuts of her brother, so tired of every excuse he have been giving every time he messes up. "I don't need your apology, Song Min Ho. Not me." There was a short silence in between them. Mino knows how much her sister hates him every time he breaks his promise.
Jin-Hye have always hated how the Korean Entertainment Industry works for idols and how the idols just lets it ruin them. More of the reason why Jin-Hye hated it when her brother decided to join there.
"Mom have always been supportive of you. The least you can do is keep up to your simple promises."
Mino instinctively held his breath in the coldness of his sister's voice. He was guilty. He knows how much his sister hates him more now. It was the consequences of his decisions. And he sucks so much on how he can manage his dreams and his family. Even though his mother understands, it will never be a good reason to let them down every time.
"I'm really sorry, Hye-Hye. It's just that the group today--" The group. The team. It was always the same reason. Jin-Hye had enough of her brother.
"And I'm telling you, I don't care what happens to your group, okay?! To hell with the results of your so-called training! You're never gonna debut anyway." After her sudden outburst, Jin-Hye dropped the call.
Mino fell silent after the call. He was hesitant on whether he would go back inside the training room or to call his sister once again but he was sure that even if he did call his sister isn't going to pick up. With a heavy heart, he returned to practice just in time that the second group was about to wrap up and for the rest of the practice, he just keeps pacing out.
"Hyung, is there a problem?" The younger ones from the other team started to approach him as they finish their practice.
"No need to worry, Hanbin. Just a little family problem." Mino gave them a small smile to assure them.
"It's still Yeye?" Jinwoo asked as they all gathered around Mino.
"Why? What's wrong, hyung?" Curiosity filled the other's team in worry about one of their eldest friend.
"My sister hates me." Mino gave a big sigh.
"Hate is a strong word, Mino. It's not like that." Seunghoon sat beside his friend to comfort him a little. "You see, Yeye, his little sister doesn't support Mino in training under YG. She thinks Mino's just wasting his time in YG."
"That's just one of the reasons why. At first, she's just against me being an idol but now, she really hates me. After all the broken promises that I made." Mino just keeps on giving off big sighs in frustration.
"Maybe I can talk with her. It's kinda my fault why you had to stay back for practice." Team A's maknae, Taehyun felt really guilty hearing how Jin-Hye felt. Team A knew about Mino's problem with his sister from all the times that Jin-Hye would call Mino angry.
"No need, Taehyun. I can handle this. It has always been this way." Both teams started cleaning up the training room however curiosity filled the other team as it was the first time they see Mino with worry.
"You must really love your sister, hyung. Seeing you this sad and worried for the first time." Team B's Kim Jiwon aka Bobby walked towards Mino.
"You know, Jiwon, sometimes I just keep on regretting that I didn't pushed her enough to join me. Yeye, my sister, she's really a great song writer." As Mino starts telling Bobby about his sister, the other members of the team were curious as well that they started listening. "She also sings well. Between the two of us, you can say that she has the qualities of an idol better than me. When I auditioned for YG, I sent both of our applications without asking her because all this time, I thought we had the same dream and passion. I thought, by the way she is with music, she also wants what I want but I was wrong. That was the first straw. She was mad at me when I sent her demo tapes along with the application. Apparently, YG also called her in but she didn't take the audition. Then when I started training, I was not able to manage my time well and ended up breaking promises with Mom about going home. Main reason why she hates me now."
“Our decisions are never easy. We know from the start that there are consequences for our decisions. I’m surprised that you’re not fully supported by your family. I never saw you as someone who have problems like this.” Although they belong to different teams, they treat each other as brothers.
“I don’t get your sister, hyung. I mean, seeing and getting to know you, your efforts are definitely going to be worth it once we debut, right?” Team B’s young leader Kim Hanbin tries to make his hyung feel better.
“But it sure is such a waste for Yeye not to be an idol.” Taehyun always had his eyes on Mino’s sister but wasn’t able to make a move since she is still young and also, since dating is not allowed as a trainee under YG. Taehyun’s statement gained approval from the other members although they have only seen Jin-Hye a few times which peaked the interest of the younger ones.
“Is her visual so great Taehyun-hyung really stated that in awe?” Team B’s maknae, Kim Donghyuk jokingly asked.
“Let’s just say that maybe one day, she can surpass Dara-noona’s visuals.” Mino jokingly and proudly stated which gained a lot of comments from the others.
“Then she’s the one wasting her talents if she didn’t join you here, hyung. So you should stop feeling bad about it.” Hanbin gave Mino a slight pat in the back. “I hope Hanbyul doesn’t act like that when she grows up. That’s definitely going to hurt me.” Hanbin added jokingly which received a laugh from the others.
Song Jin-Hye was indeed a musical genius at the age of 15(korean age) and for that reason, YG’s CEO is never going to give up getting her.
