One summer, during our break, we were able to go on vacation to our hometown thanks to Seongdoni's help. It was a blissful experience, refreshing our minds and healing from the exhaustion of the first semester's academics.
And on the day I returned, I regretfully returned to Seoul to return to my daily life.
"Oh... it's such a shame"
Hyojeong sighed, as if she felt regretful, and Sia, who was standing next to her, clapped her hands in agreement.
"Yeah... Now I have to face that boring studying again. Ah... I hate it!!!"
Yubin just looks at Hyojung and Sia's tantrums cutely, but Yubin also hates studying... Why does vacation feel so short..?
'This stop is Mangwon, Mangwon Station. The exit door is on the right.'
“Yubin, didn’t you say you had work in Mangwon?”
Oops..! I forgot. If it weren't for Jiho, I would have been in big trouble.
"Thank you Jiho!! See you later guys~"
"Okay, bye~"
I was sad that vacation was ending, and I was so consumed by my distaste for studying that I almost missed my stop. I shouldn't be thinking about anything else... but it turns out studying was the problem. (?)
After getting off the subway, Yubin climbed the stairs. But something felt off. There should have been people around at this hour, but there was no one, and there was barely any light anywhere.
"That's strange..."
Yubin, who felt something was suspicious, slowly left the station.
And the moment they reached exit 2, Yubin was surprised and doubted her eyes.
"What...what is this.."
The scene Yubin saw was hell itself. Cars were crashing everywhere, most of the civilians had been brutally murdered, and buildings were on fire.
"That's ridiculous... This street must have been peaceful just yesterday..."
Honestly, I couldn't believe it. How on earth could Mangwon-dong have become like this in just one day? Yubin stepped forward a little further.
And then... I saw something unbelievable: a person biting another person to death. Or, to be more precise... a zombie biting a person.
"Zombies? That's ridiculous. I thought they were just a motif appearing in various media. Why zombies?"
Yubin, who encountered a zombie, thought that if she was caught, she would die as well, so she carefully escaped from there.
"Whew... I almost got in big trouble..."
I let out a small sigh of relief as I discovered the body of a police officer who died protecting the citizens, and I found a gun in the officer's hand.
Yubin quickly took a moment of silence to pay tribute to the police officers who sacrificed themselves for the citizens, then grabbed her gun.
"Gun possession is prohibited in Korea, but... there's nothing we can do in this situation..."
I've got my gun, but I'm still anxious and scared. I wish it were just a nightmare. I might wake up.
But there was no time to think about that now. There was business at Mangwon, so I had to go. But when I arrived at the meeting place, it was already a field of corpses.
".........."
Yubin couldn't speak. It was a truly horrific disaster.
What happened here was no longer possible, so now it was time to escape the telescope.
Yubin turned around and headed toward the subway station. She walked as quietly as possible. As she was walking, she heard a strange sound.
'Wagjak.. wagjak..'
I quietly walked over, wondering if zombies were eating people again, but this time it was different. Two animals, seemingly dogs, were tearing apart the corpse. Yubin was certain of this when she saw the dogs.
'If you get caught, you die'
Yubin started running quietly, trying to avoid being caught as much as possible. She arrived at Exit 2 of Mangwon Station, but just as she was about to enter, she stumbled and fell.
'Ouch...'
It was very painful. But there was no time to feel pain. If I was late, those dogs would definitely eat me... The dogs saw Yubin and thought to themselves. Perhaps reacting to the sound of her falling, they began to rush at her.
Yubin raised her gun to fight back, but her hands were shaking, perhaps because she was afraid of the dogs, and she couldn't even fire properly.
'Krrrrrr', 'Waaf waaf'
The dogs growled and charged at Yubin.
