The day I first met you.
.
.
.
I was about to turn nineteen when my father was transferred to a company in the countryside, and I had to transfer schools along with him.
Having lived my entire life in the city, the idea of country life was something I didn’t even want to imagine.
After saying goodbye to my friends in Seoul, I got into my dad’s car and we headed to our new home.
The farther the car drove, the fewer buildings I saw. All that surrounded us were fields of green.
“Ugh… this is so annoying.”
After a long ride, we finally arrived at the house—and honestly, it wasn’t bad.
It was a newly built place, so both the inside and outside were quite clean.
I headed to my room, where my belongings had already been delivered. I spent the day unpacking and cleaning using the vacuum and mop.
By the time I was done, my whole body ached. I collapsed onto my bed…
…but of course, just as I lay down, Mom came in and drained the rest of my energy.
“You’re starting school tomorrow. Get your stuff ready ahead of time.”
“Okay, okay… But what about the uniform?”
“In the closet.”
Dragging my tired body to the closet, I opened it and saw a white shirt and a navy skirt hanging neatly.
“Well… at least the uniform is cute.”
I laid the uniform out, packed my bag half-heartedly, and quickly went to sleep.
I was probably going to need a pain patch or something in the morning.
.
.
.
I woke up at dawn, showered, did my makeup and hair. I kept the makeup light and curled my hair just a little with a flat iron. Then I put on my uniform and headed to school.
“Alright— we have a transfer student today. Introduce yourself.”
“Hi. I’m Ha Yeoju from Seoul. Please take care of me.”
“Okay. Yeoju, take the seat at the very back.”
The teacher pointed to the seat right next to the back door.
And the first thought that crossed my mind?
I guess I’m the new backdoor closer now…
As I sat down, I glanced around at the students nearby—
and then, my gaze stopped.
There you were, sitting by the window, the breeze gently blowing through and brushing your hair…
That moment…
That was when it all started.
