At the sound of the table thudding heavily, I came to with a jolt.
Across from me, Taehee had an annoyed expression
and was glaring at me.
“Why are you acting like this today?”
“Ah.. I think a blood sugar spike is making me tired.”
The best excuse he could come up with was a blood sugar spike.
When I urged him to get up first, using tiredness as an excuse,
he followed me with a bewildered look.
“You say you're tired, so why a drive?”
“Just to get some fresh air~”
I fastened my seat belt and started the engine right away.
Without even deciding on a destination, I just headed straight for the highway.
When he asked if there was anywhere I wanted to go,
you answered with an innocent face that you wanted to see the sea.
A laugh slipped out.
Even if I suddenly said we should go somewhere random,
the way he looked like he'd go anywhere with me
seemed cute somehow.
After driving along the road for a long while,a long, drawn-out yawn sounded.
When I glanced to the side,
Taehee looked like he could fall asleep any second.
“Oh.. now I get why you said you were tired earlier.”
“See? You are tired, right?”
“Yeah...”
“Go ahead and sleep a bit. I'll wake you when we get there.”
Back when he was boasting that he absolutely wouldn't sleep,
he'd leaned the seat back all the way and fallen into a deep sleep.
After oversleeping too, what was he so tired from?
The fact that Taehee had fallen asleep the moment he got in the car was kind of funny.
Honestly, I wanted to tease him mercilessly,
saying his sleep time was practically at newborn level,
but since he was sleeping like a baby,I held back my laughwith the corners of my mouth twitching.
We pulled off at a rest stop for a quick bathroom break, too.
After hurriedly parking and coming back from the restroom,
Taehee, who I thought would already be awake,
was still sound asleep.
“Why did you come out in just a T-shirt in this weather..”
With his outfit looking especially bare,
I slipped off my outer layer and draped it over his sleeping body,then set off again right away.
We drove straight down the open highway and turned off toward Busan.
maybe because there weren't many cars on the road,we were able to get there
earlier than expected.During all that time, Taehee never woke up even once.
After parking, I gently shook his small shoulders
and woke the sleeping Taehee.
Taehee opened his puffy eyes wide,
then stretched his arms out in a big yawn.
“We're already here?”
“You up, hyung~”
The scenery that came into view when we got out of the car was incredibly beautiful.
When Taehee saw the sea glittering so brightly it was almost blinding,
he ran toward the bench like an excited child.
As soon as he sat on the bench,
he stared at the yellow sea for a long while, as if dazed.
I, too, just blankly watched the sunlit ripples.
Taehee's big pupils
sparkled especially bright with the yellow glow of sunset.
Taehee, so absorbed in looking at the sea,
I stared blankly at his eyesand just watched them in a daze.
Above the sea, soaked in the evening glow,
silver waves broke softly and quietly.
