Yeoju and Seungcheol were born into poor circumstances.
When Yeoju was ten, her parents died in a car accident. She was raised by her indifferent aunt, who offered her no support. Yeoju worked part-time since high school.

Seungcheol was born to parents who committed domestic violence.

Then, as he became an adult, he mustered up the courage to report his parents. And Seungcheol, too, had to work five part-time jobs a day to survive.
The two first met at a part-time job. At first, their feelings for each other remained as friends from their part-time jobs. However, as their relationship gradually blossomed into love, they became worried.
The two were always short on money. With rent payments running out, they had neither the time nor the money to date. So, while they felt love, due to their circumstances, Yeo-ju and Seung-cheol chose to break up.
