We decided not to cross the line.

Episode 121. Choice

After spending a night in Teruel

The next day, we arrived in Albarracín.

After an early dinner,

we were looking out over the scenery of Albarracín

bathed in the glow of sunset.

Watching the sky turn red

and the lights along the city walls come on one by one,

I felt as if time had stopped for a moment.

"Like Hoonji said,

I think it was a good decision to come here.

Of all the trips I've taken,

this is the most beautiful."

"Wow~ Hearing a compliment like that from Jeong-a,

makes me feel good.

This was a place I'd really wanted to come to with you too,

so being here together like this feels like a dream."

I hesitated for a moment, then

asked what had been weighing on my mind

the whole way to Teruel.

"Did you read the movie script?"

He looked at me for a moment, then

turned his gaze to the town.

"Let's not talk about that during our trip."

'What is this...?

Why is he avoiding the question?'

"Maybe..."

He looked at me.

"Maybe... what?"

"Is that the movie you want to do?

So do you have to go back to Korea again?"

In the end, I brought up what I'd been keeping to myself.

"The script is... good.

But... filming is starting sooner than I expected.

So I told the president I wouldn't take part.

We said we'd spend a year here together.

I don't want to be interrupted.

Who knows when we'll have time like this again?"

Only then did I realize why Kim had called me

and asked to speak to Hoonji.

'He wants me to persuade Hoonji...'

"But...

getting to work on a project you really like isn't

easy either."

"That's why I didn't bring this up.

Stop it. Now."

The moment he cut me off so firmly,

I couldn't say anything else.

After spending two more days in Albarracín,

we toured the nearby sights.

On the final day of the trip at last,

we headed to the Castle of Peracense.

The castle, built atop a red rock mountain,

looked as if it were one with the rock.

The contrast between the red rock and the blue sky

was even more vivid, creating a stunning view.

We were looking around the castle

step by step.

Then,

Hoonji stopped walking and asked,

"Jeong-a, how far do you see our relationship

going?"

"Pardon?"

At his sudden question,

I was left speechless, not knowing what to say.

"Haven't you ever thought about it?

Your future with me?"

"..."

"Not even once?"

"It's not that I haven't thought about it...

but every time I do, I don't know the answer."

"You love me, don't you?"

"Loving someone and

building a future together with them

can't always be the same thing."

"Even if you try to forget me,

you couldn't do it.

So isn't the answer already decided?"

"Hoonji...

If you want to do that movie, then do it.

I don't want to make you miss a good opportunity."

"As long as you're here, Jeong-a,

I won't go back to Korea to film that movie.

If you want me to make that film,

come back to Korea with me."

I couldn't say a word.

Going back to Korea meant

more than just the trip ending.

It meant going back into Hoonji's life.

"Whatever choice you make, that's up to you."
