We decided not to cross the line (Season 2)

Episode 114. Hoonji's Standalone Journey

From the bucket list she wrote down

only one item was left.

[Travel the world]

She, with me,

how long had she wanted to travel?

How many countries had she wanted us to go around together?

Unlike her,

I'm not used to traveling somewhere alone.

Even making travel plans like she did isn't easy for me.

I don't even know how to go about this one.

It's a bucket list item I can't even begin to tackle.

Should I decide on the countries first?

Should I decide the travel period first?

Should I plan it around the budget?

What would Junga have done...

Because of the one last bucket list item left,

I was getting a headache.

Then I decided to

ask Junga's older sister for help.

"Hello? Hoonji?"

"Hi, noona."

"Hoonji. What's going on?"

"You told me to call you when

I missed Junga."

"Ah... right. I did say that."

"I, noona, need your help."

"With what?

What do you need my help with?"

"In Junga's diary,

the bucket list she wrote down

that she wanted to do with meโ€”"

"You mean the one tucked into the very back?"

"Yes. That's right.

Junga isn't here, but...

I'm doing them one by one on my own

and crossing them off."

"Oh my... really?

Junga would be so happy..."

"But thereโ€™s just one last thing left...

I really can't bring myself to do it."

"What is it?"

"Traveling the world."

"Ah... when I saw that too,

it didn't seem like Junga's personality

to leave it so vague,

so I wondered why she hadn't written it more specifically."

"Was she saying she'd travel all over the world...

or how long she'd have to travel

I couldn't get a sense of it at all.

Besides, I've never traveled alone,

so I have no idea what to do with this."

"Later, I... I thought maybe

because Hoonji is busy,

she wanted to go

whenever she could make time with you...

So maybe she couldn't decide

which country to go to,

or how long to stay in each one."

"Ah... hearing you say that,

maybe that really could be it..."

"So don't put too much pressure on yourself...

just do it when you want to, Hoonji,

when the situation makes it possible.

Oh. And Junga's columbarium...

when you feel ready to go, tell me.

I'll let you know."

"Yes... not yet..."

"Hoonji...

you don't have to work so hard

to not forget Junga.

You have to forget naturally as you live,

so the living can keep living."

"Junga...

is like a tattoo to me.

The more I try to erase it, the more it hurts."

"Still, now you need to

live your own life, Hoonji.

Start acting again, too..."

"Remembering Junga

and missing her is part of my life.

I don't want to force myself to forget.

After I fulfill Junga's last bucket list item,
ย
then I'll think about what comes next."

"Maybe because I'm Junga's older sister...

I'm grateful, and even more grateful

that you haven't forgotten our Junga..."

After the call ended,

her world trip became a little clearer.

I decided to start with the countries I wanted to go to

and figure out how long to stay in each one.

'If it were her... where would she have wanted to go?'

I decided on Europe first.

And I excluded the countries she'd already been to.

Then things started to take shape.

I picked a few countries out of them

and decided to travel for about two months.

'This is easier than I thought?'

Junga, I'm doing this right, aren't I?'

If I didn't want her to scold me,

I had to make the schedule properly now.

Which cities to visit in each country,

and what to see in those cities, had to be decided.

Once the schedule was set, then hotels and flights,

and even train tickets had to be booked.

Every time we traveled,

Junga always took care of everything.

I really didn't know how to do anything at all.

It took more than a month just to make the schedule.

And at last, I finished the bookings too.

Now all I had to do was leave.

And before leaving,

I went to Junga's older sister one last time

and asked where she was.

The day before the trip,

I set out to face her.

I wanted to give it to her, but

still keeping it in my possession,

I had something.

A ring...

And my love letter to her.

"I'll be back..."
