We decided not to cross the line (Season 2)

Episode 12. Daisy

A peaceful weekend passed,

and once again it’s a hectic Monday.

This week, the film company adaptation work also begins.

I open the cafe in the morning,

and today I decided to leave it to Ji-seong after lunchtime.

I’m planning to stop by the film company in the afternoon.

Translation is something I do sitting alone all the time,

but with a cafe, first you have to move your body,

you meet a variety of people,

listen to music all day,

and there’s even the fragrant smell of coffee, which is nice.

After getting everything ready for opening,

today I played the music I like.

It’s

Delorians’ [Daisy].

The cafe door opened,

and the day’s first customer came in.

"Welcome.

 Ah! Good morning, Woojin?"

"Good morning, Jeong-a.

 An iced Americano, please."

"Oh!! This song?"

"Huh?"

"It’s Daisy." / "It’s Daisy, right?"

We spoke at the same time and then

laughed.

"Do you know this song?

I asked first.

"It’s one of my favorite songs."

"Really? I only started listening to it recently,

and I’ve liked all the songs by this singer."

"It’s been a few years since this song came out,

so you’re only finding out about it now.

Oh? But the song is about

a woman named Daisy who works at a cafe,

and falls in love at first sight, right?"

"I played it because I like the song,

but it really was a good fit for a cafe. hehe"

As I handed him the coffee, I said to him,

"Under this song on YouTube,

 someone wrote a comment saying,

I saw that and really related to it."

Hearing that, Woojin was startled.

"That... I wrote it."

"Really? You’re joking, right?"

"No... I’m not joking...

 it was really me."

We were so shocked that for a while

we couldn’t close our mouths.

Even after he left the cafe,

I couldn’t tell whether he had been joking

or telling the truth.

After lunchtime passed,

I hurriedly got ready and went back to the film company building once more.

Since it looked like traffic would be bad,

I left a little earlier to take the subway.

I met the person in charge I had met last time

and greeted the main writer too.

The person in charge said that once the meeting with the writer was over,

they’d introduce me to the director too.

Since it was my first time meeting the main writer,

there was a lot I had to hear and understand.

During the meeting,

I lost track of time.

Maybe because it was my first time doing this,

I was so excited, so amazed.

'Yeah. I’m glad I said I’d do the adaptation work!'

With a proud feeling, I followed the person in charge

to the room where the director was.

When I opened the door and went in,

there was already a guest there.

The guest, sitting with his back to the sofa,

turned his head toward us as we came in through the door.

'Why am I running into you here again?'

"Director.

This is the writer who translated the novel our film is based on.

They’ve also agreed to help with the adaptation.

 Writer-nim. This is our director.

And this is our film’s lead actor, Park Hoonji."

"Hello. I’m Yu Jeong-a."

I greeted the director and Hoonji in turn.

Hoonji also seemed

quite surprised by our unexpected meeting.

The director asked me,

"I picked the lead actor myself,

but from the writer’s point of view,

do they seem to fit the original character well?"

I looked at Hoonji for a moment.

"Yes. I think they fit well.

The original character may seem blunt and strong on the outside, but

they’re actually a very delicate person emotionally.

To express that kind of feeling,

I think it’s important not just to deliver the lines well...

but to show it through facial expressions and the eyes."

I continued speaking as if it were nothing.

"In that respect, I think Park Hoonji will do well."

The director said with a satisfied expression,

"Listening to the writer, I guess I picked the lead actor well."

As I listened to the director,

I looked at Hoonji.

He looked so shy he didn’t know what to do.

After the greetings were over,

I left the office first.

I took the elevator

and pressed the button for the 1st floor,

when suddenly someone held the elevator door with their hand.

I quickly pressed the open button too.

Hoonji’s face appeared.

He came into the elevator

and as soon as the door closed, he said,

"Wow~ so cool.

 My girlfriend."

I stared at Hoonji in surprise.

He said it once more.

"I’m... your girlfriend."

"Do you maybe... have a boyfriend?"
