We decided not to cross the line (Season 2)

Episode 21. Lies

‘Right…

If we work together, feelings might grow,

and it could even lead to a confession…’

After sorting out my thoughts like that, I lay back down on the bed.

But why did Hunji tell me the reply

and say it was a fake message he sent himself?

I felt uneasy about it.

I told myself he’d said that

because he was worried I’d get needlessly bothered.

‘If that’s not it…

maybe he didn’t want his wavering feelings

to be found out…’

If Hunji was wavering,

should I just let him go…?

A bunch of thoughts rushed in at once,

and I couldn’t sleep.

Friday of that week.

Woojin came into the café at lunchtime.

“Jung-ah, when should we eat the dinner

we missed the day we watched the show?”

“Ah… back then… you went home without even eating dinner because of me.

Since it came up, how about dinner today?

If you already have plans, the weekend is fine too.”

“Oh! Dinner today sounds good.

I think you said you liked pasta back then,

is that okay?”

“Yes. That’s good.

Would you come to the café after work later?”

“Yes. I will. Then see you later.”

That evening, Woojin and I went together

to his usual restaurant in his car.

“Wow… the interior is so nice.

It has an atmosphere women like.

Do you come here often?”

“I first came here for a blind date,

but the food suited me, so I come once in a while.”

“Ah… for a blind date?

Do you go on blind dates often?”

“Not much these days, but I used to do them a lot.”

We ordered pasta and steak.

While we were talking, Woojin

looked intently at a table in the corner.

“Why? Did you see someone you know?”

“No.

The women looked familiar, so I thought I’d seen them somewhere

they seem to be actresses.

That’s why people keep glancing over.”

“Ah. Really?”

I couldn’t tell who they were from the back.

While we were eating,

from stories about Spain

to stories about our favorite music,

we talked about all kinds of things.

“Hold on, I’ll be right back from the restroom.”

Before finishing my meal and heading out,

I stopped by the restroom to pay in advance.

While I was in the restroom,

the women came in.

“So you confessed first?”

“Uh… oppa still hasn’t answered,

but somehow it feels good.”

“Good luck. That oppa has great manners, too,

and to me he seems really great.”

“Our Hunji oppa is pretty decent, right?”

‘…Hunji oppa?’

My heart started pounding faster.

Listening quietly to their conversation,

their voices sounded familiar.

Before Hunji could say it was

just a message he sent as a joke,

I remembered him saying

they were an actress he’d filmed a movie with before.

It sounded like that voice was right.

After they left the restroom,

I hurried out after them and checked their faces.

‘It really is that actress…’

I held onto my shaking heart

and sent Hunji a message.

[Hunji…

That confession text you received at the café that day,

was it a joke?]

[I told you it was. Why? Don’t trust me?]

[No. I do trust you…]

He lied to me...
