We decided not to cross the line (Season 2)

Episode 41. Miserable Tears

The coffee spilled on the floor, with the lid still open

He spilled all the coffee.

Kim, the CEO, didn't move an inch.

He just stood there like someone frozen in place.

"Didn't you hear me?"

I urged Kim, the CEO.

"What are these photos supposed to mean?"

"Jung-ah..."

I didn't even blink

as I looked at him.

He still didn't say a word.

I could no longer hold back and shouted.

"What are all these photos?

Why are these photos on Tae-hyung's laptop?

"I asked you a question."

"...I'm sorry... really..."

"What I'm thinking right now—is it right?"

Tae-hyung had someone

take these photos?"

"Because Hui-ji is an actor, a scandal isn't much of a risk..."

"Then you did all this to make me break up with you?"

"So you even went this far?

And all that while comforting me when I was struggling because of this?"

"I have nothing to say."

"How amusing."

I let out a dry laugh.

"So all this time, I was mistaking Tae-hyung for someone hopelessly devoted?"

After taking a moment to catch my breath, I added coldly.

"A businessman who won't let anything stand in the way

if there's something he wants.

That's right, isn't it?"

I shot to my feet.

For an instant, the world spun before my eyes.

Leaning my unsteady body against the edge of the desk,

I squeezed my eyes shut.

Kim, the CEO, came over

and grabbed my arm.

"Get off me."

"I'll take you home.

You're way too worked up right now,

so driving would be dangerous."

"Now you're worried about me?

Well..."

"When I was crying because of those photos,

you held me and comforted me.

You poison someone and then give them the antidote...

You did it all yourself."

"Just... couldn't you think about how desperate I was?

How I wanted to be by your side,

even if it had to be like that?"

"Maybe you're mistaking that for love?"

I let out a sigh for a moment and went on.

"That's selfishness.

Selfishness to satisfy my own greed."

I grabbed my bag off the sofa

and slowly walked to the front door.

"I..."

"Shut up!!!"

I cut him off.

I opened the door and stepped outside.

My mind felt completely blank,

and my legs wobbled as if I were stepping on air.

How I got down to the parking lot

I couldn't even remember.

I got in the car

and sat there dazed for a while.

How much time had passed?

It wasn't until about an hour later

that I got behind the wheel and drove home.

I tossed my bag onto the sofa

and went to the bed and collapsed onto it.

I didn't want to think about anything,

didn't want to do anything at all.

I closed my eyes just like that.

As soon as I closed my eyes,

the time I had spent in Spain came back to me.

The pretty village of Frigiliana

was drawn in my mind like a painting.

Inside it, I was working as a translator

at Miguel's café,

and Hui-ji runs up from outside the window

and, spotting me, comes into the café.

With a bright smile,

he hands me a Polaroid photo.

We smile at each other,

looking at one another happily.

Tears spill from my eyes.

Whether those tears were tears of happiness in my imagination,

or tears of misery in reality,

I couldn't even tell.

"There's no such method."
