With You

a small bundle

On a rainy weekday night, a lone figure could be seen running across the store front and right into a shallow alleyway.

The hoodie of the man slid off in his haste to let slip fluffy hair that instantly became limp from the rain and his lack of an umbrella. While a small blanket and some containers could be seen huddled in his arms.

It could be observed in the bookstore Cafe that the now completely drenched figure had crouched down behind some wet cardbox boxes and rubbish, rummaging through something and looked to be working with great caution and care.

After the time it took to clean all the tables and tidy the chairs, the crouched figure could still be seen unmoving from the spot, only occasionally wiping away excessive water that rolled down his face.

Just as concern was raising, the figure finally stood up to leave. His slightly hunched figure looked to be trying his best to shield the bundle in his enclosed arms from getting wet.

The person's full attention was on the bundle in his arms as he walked, only lifting his head once as he scanned the road carefully before crossing. However, that single moment was enough for others to catch a glismp of his big clear eyes. The beauty it held in them were enough to leave a lasting impression.

With that, the tall figure slipped away into the darkness of the night, leaving onlookers momentarily stunned.

It was only discovered later, due to overhearing the customers' conversations, that a kitten had been abandoned in the alleyway and had been sounding weak cries for a day or two. With the cries for help drowned out by the loud city, it was a miracle that the young man discovered the kitten and was even kind enough to care.
