“Yeah, so who told you to keep running away and avoid me?”
I glared at him.
“Oh? What’s with that look in your eyes right now? Huh? Can’t you open your eyes nicely? If you borrowed money, you should pay it back.”
I clenched my fist.
“Why won’t you unclench that fist? If you’re going to have to pay it back anyway, then give it to me now. You’re a doctor, aren’t you? Are there even doctors who can’t earn money like that?”
His hand, gripping the hem of my clothes, shoved me against the wall.
“Yeah, why are you dragging this out for so long?”
I swallowed the metallic taste of blood that I could feel in my mouth and said.
“I said I get it… I said I get it. I said I’d give it to you. But not now.”
The hand gripping my collar tightened even more.
“Why not now? Maybe you’ve got some hidden bank account?”
I grabbed his wrist and tried to pull his hand off my neck, but it didn’t budge at all.
“At this rate, you’re going to kill someone…!”
At my words, he set me down as if throwing me and said.
“You’re annoying me. Hey, if you keep stalling, I’m coming again. This time I’m coming to your workplace. Stop making me do home visits.”
He roughly pulled out his phone from his pocket, then walked away while talking to someone. I straightened my wrinkled clothes and muttered.
“If I have to live like this, I’d rather die.”
I watched bitterly as his staggering back grew distant.
“Should I just die today?”
Having made up my mind, I was now standing in front of the Han River.
One more step down the stairs and it was over.
I hesitated. Late at night. The wind was blowing hard.
“I didn’t even get to see my last patient…”
I went down the stairs one step, then two. The cold wind passed by me.
That was when it happened.
“Hey! Sir?! It’s dangerous there!”
A woman’s voice rang out.
A worried voice as she looked my way while holding a camera.
I ignored her. No matter who called to me now, I no longer wanted to live. It came again.
“Sir!! I said it’s dangerous there!!”
My entire leg was just about to be submerged in the water.
“Don’t save me… because I don’t want to live.”
At that moment.
The woman dragged me up onto the land, as if pulling me out of the water.
