So we wore uniforms and hats that were so uncomfortable that we couldn't wear them on deployments, and we wore uniforms and hats that we would only wear at graduation ceremonies. As I reached the main entrance to Daehan Apartments, I turned the flashers up to full volume and entered the entrance. A police car, clearly visible to anyone, pulled in, but the door wouldn't open, so Officer Jeong finally called the security office.

- "Hello. I'm from the BU Police Station's Violent Crimes Unit 1."

Despite Officer Jeong's polite tone and pleas, the security office didn't respond. How could this have been more accurate than we expected? There was nothing we could do. If dialogue didn't work, we'd have no choice but to resort to the power of public authority.

As the members of Team 1, who had surrounded him, returned to their cars one by one, only Officer Ha handed the security guard a document. He added a chilling warning that if it affected the investigation, he could be punished.

At that moment, as he turned his back on the security office and walked away, he radioed his team and told them to go in first. Officer Ha's calm, sunken eyes grew wider and wider, and soon he hung up the radio and ran away.

The 1st Violent Crimes Unit was thrown into disarray by Officer Ha's interrupted radio transmission. Unable to bear it any longer, Officers Min and Park got out of the car and raced to find Officer Ha, while Officer Jeong pressed harder on the accelerator, searching for a space to park.

What Officer Ha saw was a man whose face resembled the ID photo on the employee's personal information form, hurriedly leaving the apartment. His hat was pulled down low, but it was almost certain to be a murderer. He was hiding something in one hand, which looked like a weapon, so he ran without a second thought.

Officer Ha, who had left the apartment, followed the man into a deserted alley, grabbed him by the shoulder, and turned him around. He decided to use the clumsy self-defense techniques he'd briefly learned from Officer Jeon, but at that moment, his mind went blank.

Turning around, it was even more certain. That's right, Mr. Kim Hyun-seong. It was clear. Officer Ha, trying to hide his trembling hands, opened his mouth. It was a one-on-one confrontation with a suspect wielding a weapon. It was his first experience as a police officer, so it was understandable to be nervous.

Normally, he'd be wearing shabby tracksuits, but he was dressed in uniform to breach the apartment entrance, so anyone could tell that Officer Ha was a police officer out to catch a criminal. At the mention of his name, Kim Hyun-seong became noticeably more wary and began to fight back.

"What, what! Who are you now...!"

"I know everything. Mr. Kim Hyun-seong, do you work at Daehan Department Store?"

"Where did the bomb come from?"

Officer Ha belatedly realized he shouldn't provoke her. He was extremely agitated, and although he couldn't tell where he was going, he was holding a weapon, so someone must have a grudge. And that person was likely his ex-girlfriend, Park Soo-yeon.

Even if you stab me with this knife, if I let this man go, an innocent civilian will be hurt. For the sake of my seniors lying in hospital beds, I'll take the stabbing instead. Officer Ha, consumed by his arrogant thoughts, poured his energy into persuading Kim Hyun-seong.

Officer Park, who had arrived late, pulled a handkerchief from his bosom and used it to stop the bleeding on Officer Ha's shoulder. Officer Min, startled and trying to run away, caught Kim Hyun-seong, pinned him to the ground, and subdued him. It had been quite some time since he'd seen Officer Min, his eyes ablaze with rage, reciting the Miranda Rights and making an arrest.

"You are hereby arrested on charges of damaging public property, bringing in a bomb, and assaulting a public official."

김현성 [32]

Thanks to yet another sacrifice, the suspect was finally apprehended. This brought the total number of casualties within the Violent Crimes Unit 1 to one.

It's been a really long time... 🥹 5 months?! It's been a while since I last greeted you. 🌞 It's late, but Happy New Year. 🫶🏻

Before I knew it, I was a senior in high school! Last October, after midterms, I started getting busy with schoolwork, so I immersed myself in studying during winter break. But once school started and I settled in, I finally found the energy to write. 🥲

Actually, I wrote the first part of this article quite a while ago, but I apologize for only supplementing and uploading the latter part now 🥺 I don't know how many of you remember me, but I want to say thank you so much to everyone who waited 🙇🏻‍♀️

I think I keep getting greedy about finishing the currently serialized 'Dangerous Investigation Journal' because it's a work that I've been preparing for a long time and cherishing... 🙂 Even though it's not polite at all from the viewers' perspective 😭
