-요 FORM
-요 is a lighter version of -니다 form. It is commonly used in situations which aren't that formal. It is informal yet still shows politeness.
LEARN THE RULES HERE:
1st : Remove 다. Take the verb stem.
2nd : Add 아 if the word ends in vowels 아 and 오. Add 어 after anything else.
3rd : Then add 요 at the end.
EXAMPLES:
•만나다 (to meet)
1st: 만나
2nd: 만나
3rd: 만나요
NOTE: ends in 아 (no need to add 아 again coz it's the ending... as in 'final' letter.)
•알다 (to know)
1st: 알
2nd: 알아
3rd: 알아요
NOTE: here, the final letter we see in the 1st step is ㄹ, but the last vowel is 아. So we have to add 아 in the 2nd step.
Get it? Notice the difference from example 1. *-*
•오다 (to come)
1st: 오
2nd: 와
3rd: 와요
NOTE: last letter 오 in 1st step. Add 아, but 오 plus 아 is equal to 와. (Simple math in letters **)
•보다 (to see)
1st: 보
2nd: 봐
3rd: 봐요
NOTE: last letter 오. Again 오 plus 아 is equal to 와.
•먹다 (to eat)
1st: 먹
2nd: 먹어
3rd: 먹어요
NOTE: since it doesn't in 아 nor 오, add 어.
•기다리다 (to wait)
1st: 기다리
2nd: 기다려
3rd: 기다려요
NOTE: it ends in 이, so we'll add 어, but 이 plus 어 is equal to 여. (Again, apply simple math in letters **)
~There are still many rules, but let's have time to digest these rules first. **
