Part 1

October 13th had finally arrived. It was a day Park Jimin had been eagerly awaiting. It was his tenth birthday, and he was very nervous; he had invited some friends over for his birthday, and while he would grow up fast, he would have enough money to lift his grandmother out of that poor neighborhood.

His grandmother had been everything to him. She was like a mother, a best friend, and for that reason, she was the most important person in Jimin's life. That woman had always taken care of him since his parents had a terrible accident four years ago, leaving him alone.

Jimin and his beloved grandmother had set to work inflating the balloons. This was his first birthday that he was going to celebrate with several people and not just with his grandmother as he always did.

Jimin had gone to great lengths to make his own invitations for around twenty people. He was content just to have a good time with his friends and not spend much money, even though it was his first birthday celebration.

His grandmother, as always, prepared a large, delicious strawberry cake and some scrumptious chocolate chip cookies; they were Jimin's favorites for as long as he could remember.

Jimin didn't know many people and wasn't very sociable, but he had made a point of approaching his classmates to deliver the invitations despite his shyness.
It's always good to meet more people and become closer to someone, isn't it?

"Sweetheart, go change your clothes while I set the table," the woman told the boy, and he obeyed, giving her a smile before heading off to his room.

As Jimin put on his best clothes, he wondered how many people would come to the party. He really wouldn't mind if ten or twelve showed up as long as everyone had a great time.
However, the thought of the guests not arriving made him sad, but it made all traces of negative thoughts disappear; he had taken great care to make his invitation cards look impeccable and beautiful, he had even drawn a heart and a happy face in the corner of each card.

He left his room with a smile on his face. He had worked hard choosing his outfit for the day, as it was his first time choosing his outfit by himself without his grandmother's help.

"But how handsome you look, my love," the woman approached the boy, crouching down to his level and then gently squeezing her grandson's left cheek affectionately. "When you grow up you'll be a handsome and charming young man, and girls and boys will fall at your feet just by looking at you."

Jimin laughed amusedly as he imagined himself older.
