Min Yoongi Syndrome

Group 03

Time flew by, leaving behind the intense first day of my senior year. There was no such thing as a period of adjusting to the new semester. They were all classmates from last year or friends from before, so they all hung out in groups. Every teacher who came in every class would list a litany of reasons why it was important for a senior to study, and I had to listen to them until they were all over my head. Meanwhile, nothing much happened with Min Yoongi. After that day, he only occasionally greeted me formally, but never spoke to me. I considered that a blessing.

“Please gather in groups of four people sitting close together.”

With midterms approaching and the students needing to make the most of their time, the teacher declared that we should be doing group activities, saying that we should include leadership and teamwork in our student life report, and I was so shocked that I almost went to heaven. - Of course, I'm not an ordinary student who's upset because we're not making the most of our time. I just didn't like group activities. - Since it was a mobile class, the class atmosphere was incredibly awkward because each class was filled with students from different classes. It seemed like everyone in the class was aware of this because when the teacher told us to form groups, the kids sitting nearby slowly started forming groups.

A while ago, because of the mock exam, the seats were spaced out, so the seats were arranged in a jumbled manner, five rows across, five rows down, and four rows around the blackboard. Usually, if it were other mobile classes, they would have us sit by class to memorize names, but this teacher didn't seem to have any such intentions, because from the first day of orientation, they told us to sit wherever we wanted. I didn't want to stand out, so I went to class early every day during break and reserved a seat in the corner at the very back. But was that the cause of the problem?

I didn't know we would be in the same group.

It started like this. Since I was sitting in the very back, I figured I'd join the remaining group without much thought, and just sat there. After all, if they were forming groups of four at the front, there wouldn't be room for me. I sat there blankly, then I looked to the side to see if anyone else, sitting in the very back, couldn't form a group.

“…”

I had forgotten that among all the moving classes, I was taking Life Science with Min Yoongi. He has wide feet, so he sat at the back of the class even though he only knew people in it.Rather than forming a group, the guy just stared blankly at the teacher's desk.

Clearly, I was the one who had to bend over backwards because of what happened that day, and that guy was the one who could get angry and irritated with me for that. But it felt like my roles would change at any moment. The head that had been looking at the podium slowly turned towards me. And those black eyes looked at me. I almost blurted out, asking what I was looking at. But since I was only temporarily in a bad mood because of that incident, I just avoided eye contact.

The other kids were already forming groups and talking about how they'd try to break the ice. The thought of being in a group with Min Yoongi was already draining me, and I was contemplating skipping class and running away when the teacher approached me. He looked at the three students sitting at the back and told the rest of us to form groups. He quickly walked over to the teacher's desk. "I absolutely hate this. I'll rebel." I pretended not to hear the teacher and slumped down on my desk, leaning my arms against the desk.

Squeak–

Don't come. Please don't come. The sound of the chair being dragged on the floor was quite rough. And that rough sound was getting closer. I pretended not to know anything and lay down, pretending to be asleep. It was a hundred times better to be labeled a problem student who didn't pay attention in class than to talk to Min Yoongi. Get out, get out, please. I'm sleeping.

The sound of a chair being dragged again. This sound, too, grew louder and then stopped. Someone tapped my back, where I was lying face down. I stood up nervously, as if to show my unwillingness to participate in group activities. And at the same time, two people's gazes turned to me.

I guess it's right to give up group activities.

We formed groups, assigned roles, and attended class. Time flew by before class ended. But why did I become the group leader? xx. I couldn't help but swear. It was clear that my future life in Saengyoon would be hell and a mess of ethics. It was ridiculous to see three chairs lined up next to each other at that cramped desk. Min Yoongi aside, this guy I was meeting for the first time had black horn-rimmed glasses and was wearing a full school uniform. – Usually, he's a high school senior who's been let off the hook for being the best in high school, so he'd wear school clothes over his school uniform, but he was clearly a serious nerd since he came in full uniform. – I also remembered him staring at me with the same icy gaze I had been giving Min Yoongi. How did I become the group leader...

“Each group will elect a leader to lead the group.”

Our group remained silent despite the teacher's words. Just the anonymous horn-rimmed glasses, Min Yoongi, and me. Min Yoongi might have spoken, but his ego, the one holding the title of "everyone," seemed to have been too reserved. Not even a few minutes later, the teacher asked each group who their leader was. Our silence remained unchanged.

The silence within our group was broken. The one who broke it was, of course, Min Yoongi.

“Who is the leader of that group?”

The teacher posed a question to our group. We couldn't say anything. After all, there was no word exchanged within the group. A few seconds later, the group, which had been tacitly agreed to abide by the rules,The silence was suddenly broken. The one who broke it was, of course, Min Yoongi.

“Please stand up.”

Is this crazy? Looking at Min Yoongi's face, it seems like he's been reincarnated as everyone's man. The way he smiles with a face that looks good and kind gives me goosebumps. I thought this wasn't right, so I looked at the guy with the horn-rimmed glasses. This isn't right. You normal person, please. He looked at me once and then looked back at the teacher without saying anything. Did these guys do this together?

This isn't right. I quickly raised my hand, thinking that I would become the group leader without saying anything.

“Teacher, this kid decided to do it instead of me.”

The owner of the finger I was pointing at was the one with the horn-rimmed glasses. -I imagined handing that position over to Min Yoongi, but I didn't want to see the guy in my imagination just laughing and acting like nothing happened, so I didn't point.- The one with the horn-rimmed glasses didn't say a word until the teacher looked at me and shook his head. The teacher must have thought we were joking around nicely, so he checked silently and continued speaking.

As I explained in the last orientation, for our first exercise, we'll select an ethical issue and discuss it, even if it's something we didn't discuss during class. The group leader…

I don't remember anything after that. We frantically received report forms, decided on topics, assigned roles, dug into chat rooms... Wait a minute. Chat? I quickly picked up my phone and stared at the screen filled with apps. I found it. I tapped on the yellow app, and several chat rooms appeared. And at the top was that man's name. I tapped on the chat room without hesitation. We didn't really talk about anything. It was all about performance-related conversations.

Each person should summarize the content on their own.

Since the training could be completed during class time, there was no need to meet with them privately. All I had to do was show up to school and participate in activities every hour. What was so difficult about that?
