field trip

20: The sea was pretty nice, wasn’t it?

I took out my phone and checked today’s schedule.

"Right...!"

On the first day, I completely forgot to buy a swimsuit for today.
I changed into some shorts and a black T-shirt.

If I do this, it shouldn’t really matter if I get wet.

"... Lee Sanghyeok, did you bring a swimsuit?"

"No."

"We’re going to the beach. And you’re just wearing clothes?"

"I’m not going into the sea."

"Huh??"

"I’ve fallen into the sea before, so I’m scared."

Sanghyeok said in a thoroughly intimidated voice.

Just how dangerous had it been for him to be like that?

A little while later, we arrived at the nearby beach with the teacher.
Tae-san and Haneul were visible in the distance.

It looked like Tae-san had forgotten to bring a swimsuit, but why wasn’t Haneul here...?

Haneul doesn’t seem like the type to forget something like that...

"Ah."

Sure enough, Go Haneul must have decided that since Han Tae-san didn’t bring a swimsuit, he wouldn’t bring his either.

"Haneul!"

When I waved at Haneul, he came running toward us, linking arms with Tae-san at first, then grabbing his hand.

"...? Why are you switching between linking arms and holding hands?"

"We... decided to date yesterday. I confessed while drunk, too, I guess? haha"

Haneul said shyly.
Even so, he was holding his hand very tightly.
Tae-san’s ears were a little red too.

"Han Tae-san, don’t be shy. Gross... ack!"

Tae-san shoved me into the sea, and I went splash.
I tried to get revenge by pushing Han Tae-san into the sea.
But he was so tall and heavy that he wouldn’t budge.

"Damn it, you’re like a ton."

I huffed and puffed my way into the sea.

I dipped myself in and out of the water, then motioned for Haneul to come in.
Haneul came into the water after me, and Tae-san, who hadn’t moved an inch, came in too.

Sanghyeok really just watched the three of us.

"Take this!"

We played around splashing water for a bit, then got tired and came out of the sea.
Since my stamina was garbage, I ran out of energy even though we’d only played for a few minutes.
Those two are really acting like a couple.
I plopped down next to Sanghyeok.

"You really aren’t going in?"

"Yeah."

"Then I’ll stay with you."

"Aren’t you just resting because you’re tired?"

"Nope. Want me to go to the convenience store or something?!"

"No. Take a break. You barely did anything at Pops, either."

Lee Sanghyeok really remembers even the smallest things.

A little later, Tae-san and Haneul also came out of the sea, exhausted.
While Tae-san and Haneul were at the convenience store, Sane told Sanghyeok,

"Do you really hate the sea that much?"

"Yeah."

"Enough that you don’t even want to go near it?"

"Yeah..."

Tap-

I took Sanghyeok’s hand and pulled him to his feet.
Then I walked right up to the water’s edge.

"Let’s just try this much."

"Huh?"

"Let’s just dip our hands in."

"I don’t want to..."

"You don’t even have to let your feet touch it. Seriously, just your hand."

"... Really?"

"Of course."

Sanghyeok cautiously stretched out his hand and dipped just his fingertips into the water. He had looked completely tense, but once he realized it was actually pretty cool, his expression softened.

"See? It’s nothing, right?"

"... Yeah."

"Good job~"

"Don’t treat me like a kid...!"

I gently took Sanghyeok’s hand again and dipped it a little deeper into the water.

"...!"

"Hey~ I brought drinks~"

"Yeah!"

I let go of Sanghyeok’s hand and went over to the others.

After spending the time having that much fun, we went back to the lodging.

"Lee Sanghyeok, the sea was pretty good, right?"
