“Is this the place where the band club audition is being held?”
The door opened carefully, and one kid came in. Half asleep and dazed, Nam Yejun sprang up and said.
“Huh? Oh! Yeah, this is it! Did you come to audition?”
The kid who came in to audition was a blond boy with somewhat long hair tied back.
“How do I do the audition?”
Yejun thought for a moment at his question, then said.
“Just do whatever. You’re the first one who’s come by so suddenly…”
Yejun sat down awkwardly in his chair. The blond boy also stood awkwardly in front of him, looking at the piano.
“Can I use that?”
Yejun nodded and said.
“Yeah, go ahead. You know how to play the piano.”
The blond boy nodded and pulled the piano toward himself.
“It’s an electric piano. It’s been a while since I’ve seen one of these.”
The boy examined the piano and said.
“Come to think of it, I didn’t ask. What’s your name?”
“Han Noah”
Yejun nodded and said.
“Pretty name. Then, when you’re ready, play.”
Noah started the music without hesitation. Yejun was a little taken aback by Noah’s singing skill.
‘Oh… this kid’s pretty good.’
“The results will come out tomorrow.”
With a barely visible smile, Yejun handed over the paper.
“Han Noah, right? Write your phone number here. I need to send you the result.”
After Noah wrote down his number, Yejun sat down beside the chair and said.
“How did you end up making the band club all by yourself?”
Yejun put the paper with Noah’s number on it into his bag and said.
“I really love music. More than people my age, actually. So I ended up wanting to make a club where we’d do music, and I made one, but it wasn’t popular. Everyone goes and joins the broadcasting club or sports club instead. Well, I guess that’s only natural. The truth is, sports are more fun than music.”
Noah gave a snort of laughter and said.
“Well, I mean, that is true. Actually, I like singing too. But my friends look at me kind of weird. They ask why a guy would play piano and sing.”
Yejun laughed and said.
“Hey! What’s wrong with that! A guy can sing too.”
As the two of them talked like that, time passed in a flash, and Yejun was left alone in the music room, staring at the paper with Noah’s number and name on it.
