We decided not to cross the line (Season 2)

Episode 1. A New Beginning

"Taehyung-ssi. Welcome.

Was it hard to find?"

"No. It wasn’t hard to find.

But why a café all of a sudden for you?"

Anyway, you really are quirky..."

"Uh... when I was in Spain,

I used to work on translations at cafés every day,

and it was much better than working alone

in an officetel..."

"You opened a café just to do translation work?"

"I do my work here too,

and I’m also juggling two jobs...

I came to Korea not long ago,

and I even learned a barista course."

"By the way, what does the café name mean?"

"Miguel?

That was the name of the café owner

I used to go to every day in Spain.ㅎ

I missed that place so much,

so I decorated it

to feel as similar as possible..."

I gave Kim, who had said he just wanted to meet for a bit,

a surprise announcement.

After breaking up with Hunji,

it was a café I’d spent months carefully preparing.

I had invited Kim there today.

"Sit down. I still haven’t found a part-timer,

so I’ll make you some coffee."

"Sounds good."

Even after sitting, he kept glancing around,

slowly taking in the café.

"The café is cozy and pretty.

It really feels like you..."

"Really?

Maybe because I decorated it to make me want to work here?

Anyway, I’m glad you think it’s pretty."

"You’re not quitting translation work, are you?"

"No~ I’m going to keep translating here.

I’ll run the café with part-timers,

and I’ll focus on my main job.

It’d better not go under..."

I smiled

and set a cup of warm Americano

in front of Kim.

He seemed to be gauging my reaction,

then finally spoke.

"I met Hunji last week.

He said he’d be starting a new film soon."

"Hmm...

but...

why didn’t you renew your contract with Hunji?"

"Given the situation now, it’s better for Hunji too

to go to a bigger agency...

and it’s better for me to find and nurture new rookies.

It’s a win-win for both of us."

"With Taehyung-ssi’s eye for talent,

you’ll raise another actor

just as great as Hunji."

"Can you talk about Hunji that calmly now?"

"Well, we’re broken up now...

We fought a lot during the year and a half after coming to Korea.

We were so busy we didn’t even have time to see each other,

so misunderstandings just piled up...

I got obsessed like I was some kind of patient...

My heart was truly hell."

He quietly looked at my face.

"Right. Potted plants and stuff are too obvious,

so I prepared a different gift...

Here! This."

"What is it?"

"Open it."

I opened the box he handed me.

"It’s a necklace?"

"Thanks to the lessons you taught me,

I was able to get back into our school...

and I’m already a senior.

Thinking about it, I really do owe you a lot."

"You got in because you worked hard, Taehyung-ssi.

What do you mean, because of me...

You gave me an expensive gift back then too,

and now you’re doing it again?"

"Then think of it as a gift

cheering on your new beginning."

"Thanks.

Then Taehyung-ssi gets unlimited free coffee from now on."

"If you do business like that, you’ll go under in no time."

"Really? haha"

Looking at a friend I hadn’t seen in a long time,

I could finally laugh comfortably after a while.

"They’re really making it into a movie?"
